I wish we had a buffer state between us and Germany in the form of Polabians and Sorbs.
If that would mean Carolingian State to return, so be it.

nah boi Wends got Christianized and Germanized and they ain't coming back

you'd be speaking french by now

beautiful

doubtful
the German language massively expanded eastwards during the middle ages, French didn't

Why couldn't you chritianise them without germanising them? It's not what Christianity is about at all lol.

Sorbs actually still exist.

it's Tcharlumagne, famous emperor of greater Belgium

>Why couldn't you chritianise them without germanising them?
we did, first we baptized then, after that many Germans settled in the east and the Wends got assimilated into being German
>Sorbs actually still exist.
not really
especially during the expulsions from WW2, many German refugees settled in Lusatia
today almost nobody speaks Sorbian anymore

Redpill me on Lotharingia. It seems like such a weird state, unlike the other two which arose from partition.
Was there like, any basis for that state on national/ethnic grounds?

I've seen some people calling it first instance of indpendnet Holland.

I think the cross of Burgundy originates from them.

Is Lotharingia the same as Lorraine? In Polish we use the same name for both.

it was just formed because there were three sons who all had to get a part of the heritage because of Frankish heritage laws
no lotharingian people exist
in the end it was absorbed into the HRE and France conquered most of it during the middle ages, as most of the area was French speaking anyway

Well, Germans would have destroyed it at some point anyway

>Was there like, any basis for that state on national/ethnic grounds?
Yes, Lotharingia was basically the homeland of the (Salian) Franks. That's why both West-Francia and East-Francia wanted it so badly.

Europe's most famous king is a salaryman?

*dutch

homeland of the Franks was the border of modern Germany and Netherlands
and back then much of Lotharingia was in southern France (Savoy, Burgundy, Provence etc)

That's Middle Francia. Middle Francia (sometimes called Kingdom of Lothair) consisted of Lotharingia, Burgundy and Italy

Alexander the Great was the most famous king of Europe and the whole world.

A beautiful French empire

where in modern France does one speak Frankish languages?
in Germany it's here
