This makes me really sad, why is Bulgaria still luring more foreign investitors than Croatia?

Croatia has a lot of touristic potential which doesn't boil down to extremely cheap resorts for the underbelly of the society, ranging from, yes, beaches, to beautiful architecture, a blend of Slavic and Mediterranean and nice Titoist blocks (Bulgaria, on the other hand, can brag neither of this).

Yet, the EU seems to coddle Bulgaria as if it were a hidden gem of the Europe, even making Plovdiv, which, besides a centre which looks not any different from any Balkan city centre in Greece and, yes, Turkey, is a festering hellhole with decaying blocks and many gypsy districts.

Discuss. By the way the article is from 2016 and Romania has already long taken over Croatia (which is bad as well, since Croatia has more potential than Romania as well and is also closer to the West).

If you mean by the coast there are many advantages over Croatia:

>Bulgaria has IT jobs in Sofia, industrial jobs in Plovdiv and sea resorts (including high end shit in sv vlas) on a large coast
