That's not how this statistics work. If there are 1000 people, 1 of which makes 1 million, the second makes 10 000, third 1000, the third guy would still be the third richest and thus top 1%, despite making 1/1000th of what the first guy does

I grew up relatively poor considering how most people in the area lived. I wore a lot of my siblings' old clothes, we didn't have cable TV, we didn't go out to eat except on birthdays, dinner was usually chicken, brown rice, and vegetables, and we didn't usually go to the same dentist more than once in a row.
It wasn't that bad honestly. At least we could afford college, doctor appointments, and decent food, and we never had to move.
