Poland has been occupied for 123 years, polish citizens were divided between Russia, Germany and Austria for 123 years, both Russians and Germans made learning polish language illegal and tried to germanize/russify everyone
Poles proceeded to teach their kids in underground school even tho after half a century most of them never saw an independent Poland, nobody wanted to be a German or Russian
when Poland was reestabilished after 123 years and people from 3 different occupation zones united again, they all still spoke polish
nobody speaks Russian nor German today
