biggest city in the whole country isnt even a million
>mfw from a small metro in America
>american citieis
looks like my city
>implying that's a bad thing
looks like my city
nice try gayboi
Yeah? My point exactly.
City centre is small and sparse full of parkinglots
Not really, Americans cities have very small actual city areas with most of the populations living in the metro area of said city area.
Excluding New York and America barely has anything qualifying as a big city.
San Francisco seems like a big city
If you need to a car to get a round it's not a real city.
When was this taken? Traffic around NYC sucks unless it's the middle of the night.
it's a city of 600k of course it's small and there is only some parking lots on the outskirts of downtown the rest is ramps.
Yeah, it has a high density of both people and buildings compared to most other American cities. Americans cities are honestly just pathetic for a country of 350 million people.
Thread just doesn't make any sense, you have tiny countries like Austria with huge cities like Vienna in Europe.
A city of 600k should have a huge city centre.
What's wrong with small cities? It's not like I leave the town centre much anyway (I rarely even leave my house lel).
nvm it's actually only 400k population and still much better developed than euro "cities"
400k*
and the city center is much more developed than any comparable sized euro "city"
I'm from smaller.
How do you mean? In european cities there's often vast network of underground parking no need for parking lot taking 50% of space
A lof of american cities don't even feel cities since they're not really dense. Downtown consists of handful of buildings which are far apart.
Some people prefer like that and it's fine. No need to get butthurt
>still much better developed than euro "cities"
Define "developed", please.
Imagine the smell
>living in a multimillion people city crawled up like a fucking ant
>just breathing for 24 hours is like smoking a pack of cigs
>have to sit in traffic for hours to get anywhere
Yeah, i'll stick to my farm.
And american cities were designed for cars. Nothing wrong with that if you prefer that
NYC has underground a lot of other cities have above ground but usually in a multi story building to save space.

Antwerp has the same population as Minneapolis. I've been to both, you will get lost in Antwerp as a tourist as there is a lot of streets and places. Meanwhile you can walk trough Minneapolis in 30 minutes. Cities in America cannot be compared to Europe in terms of population. A city of 400-500k in Europe is a fairly big city while in America it means someone built a few buildings and called it a city.
NYC is older city, before the time of suburbia and cars. That's why most of US cities have small downtowns that look like this.
New york really is beautiful in it's own kind of degenerate way. I can't afford to live there, though.
Imagine standing in the middle of skyscrapers and thinking it doesn't "feel" like a city. I can tell you have never visited an American city so i'll explain some things you seem to have wrong.
There are only parking lots on the outskirts of downtowns as it would be too costly to put one in the middle as you can see real estate is very expensive which is why they build such big towers, we use ramps and underground parking as the main source of parking but they aren't visible as they mix with the buildings. America is built on a grid system meaning the building are about 6 lanes apart, it feels very dense when you are in it because the buildings are so big, but it is not as narrow as the euro city streets which are usually only 4 lanes wide, and your lanes are skinnier. I'm not sure if you have ever seen a skyscraper in real life, but they are definitely not "just buildings"
looks cool desu
Doesnt matter if there's few high rising buildings here and there if it's not a dense city. DC is more like a city than most despite not having any skyscraper
What the fuck are you two idiots arguing about? Please remind me.
>be american
>be huge
>liking big cities
