Even if Spain had no power to fight, the Iberian peninsula is geographically important.

can't you see that germany giving us support was eventually bad for germany?not saying they would have won the war but they did take a long detour in the balkans to help us out when they could have been fighting russians.
of course in turn this wouldn't have happened if Adolf didnìt put pressure on Italy to join the war while still very underprepared, but even he was smart enough to not consider spain (a nation just coming out of a civil war) as anything more than a potential burden.
he got a good deal with the support spain was sending, what he didn't need was another burden for his troops or in the worst scenario, allied troops coming from the pirenees after the inevitable fall of spain.

spain had a war during 1936-1939 and was devastated afterwards.
