Why didn’t they join the Axis during WW2?
The Axis could’ve won the war if they had?
Why didn’t they join the Axis during WW2?
they wanted to join then they saw how easily the bongs and greeks defeeated the shitalians and skipped.
they finished a huge civil war in 1939 and had to rebuild
they weren't retarded enough, honestly Spen did the right thing, there was no need for them to join the war.
cause they were smarter
>98742088
Nice proxy
This
Franco also wanted Gitler to give him some Spanish lands back which are udner French occupation.
A civilwar just finished, they helped the axis by sending equipment, volunteers and allowing axis planes to use spanish airfields
Germany defeated France and doing better in 1940
Italy wouldn’t have lost that quickly if Spain had took over Gibraltar
They hadn't for very good reason. Shitaly should've followed their example but by then it was already far too late.
>Italy wouldn’t have lost that quickly if Spain had took over Gibraltar
we would have eventually our army was a shitshow, also give me one good reason Spain would have wanted to join the war, they had none.
imagine if hitler didn't invade the soviet union. would he have won the war then?
>The Axis could’ve won the war if they had?
no but it would have won if Japan attacked USSR instead of USA
Good luck trying to invade the bongs
The war started a few months after the Spanish civil war ended Spain was in no position to fight
based Stalin would have wanted to liberate eastern europe anyway at some point, the Austrian manlet knew this and almost pulled off his preemptive offensive actually
>give me one good reason Spain would have wanted to join the war
They can get Gibraltar, some land in south France and North African clay
>gibraltar
they knew they would've been rekt by the brits in 1939, they didn't even had an army to speak of after the civil war
>land in south France
wut, how? Adolf wasn't going to allow that
>North African clay
they already had morocco, sort of, no need for more sand
Japanese army was ridiculously weak. They had no proper tanks and they were already bogged down in China.
Even if Spain had no power to fight, the Iberian peninsula is geographically important.
If Spain had shutted starlit of Gibraltar teaming up with Germany, the UK would’ve had difficulty sending troops to India and Egypt
>implying they used the gibraltar route to send troops to egypt and insia
they avoid it since the first day shitaly joined the war
>blockading gibraltar
exactly with which navy would you go about doing that?
They would’ve been able to get Germany’s support to take over Gibraltar.
If my memory serves me correctly, Italy got Nice and some shit from Germany. Hitler would’ve allowed to Spain too.
why couldn't he have settled with western europe? it's far richer and developed than eastern europe. i know he was an autist when it came to racial politics but i don't think he actually could genocide every non-aryan from the world.
>If my memory serves me correctly, Italy got Nice and some shit from Germany
no, we didnt even get corsica. all we had were some mountain border adjustement.
If Germany had had basements in Spain, they could’ve interfered with UK’s transports much effectively
You don’t necessarily need navy to block the strait
Aircrafts and artilleries would be enough
>is confident he can take over western europe already
>the only threat is the big dick of the Red Army in the East
> he knows they will put more and more pressure on the eastern border and reclaim conquered land in the name of freedom of the peoples eventually
>Moscow is not that far we can make it bois
>if Stalin is out literally noone will come from the East ever again and we can focus on finishing up in the west
if he actually pulled this off he would have been pretty much set for the rest of the war, and he went closer to achieving this that you'd expect.
of course when the japs did Pearl Harbor it was gg no re and everything went to shit for him, but that's another story
>Italy and its colonies before WWII are shown in red. Pink areas were annexed for various periods between 1940 and 1943
en.m.wikipedia.org
>Aircrafts and artilleries would be enough
lol no m8, besides the brits would have used their own air force to bomb spanish artillery positions and airfield into oblivion in like a week.
thats occupation not annexion
these were the borders
They have Germany’s support just like Italy did
Why Germany didn’t allow Italy to annex these parts? It seems if the axis had won the war, Germany would’ve allowed Italy to keep them
because germans didnt want to upset vichy france
>It seems if the axis had won the war, Germany would’ve allowed Italy to keep them
not so sure, g*rmans are greedy bastards and they would have conquered the world in the end
can't you see that germany giving us support was eventually bad for germany?not saying they would have won the war but they did take a long detour in the balkans to help us out when they could have been fighting russians.
of course in turn this wouldn't have happened if Adolf didnìt put pressure on Italy to join the war while still very underprepared, but even he was smart enough to not consider spain (a nation just coming out of a civil war) as anything more than a potential burden.
he got a good deal with the support spain was sending, what he didn't need was another burden for his troops or in the worst scenario, allied troops coming from the pirenees after the inevitable fall of spain.
spain had a war during 1936-1939 and was devastated afterwards.
keep in mind that spanish civil war was a proxy war between germany and russia

>The Axis could’ve won the war if
Wrong.
OK this is the answer.
Thought if the Axis had taken the Gibraltar, the UK would’ve chosen to surrender more likely than keep resisting to Germany alone, I think
this too
>japan and germany against literally everyone else
ww2 would've happened without hitler, and germany would've lost in every possible scenario
This, based bong
We can't because the Axis couldn't guarantee a supply of oil and food, we could be blockaded by US and UK and we were starving after 4 years of Civil War, mostly
if:
>hitler takes Moscow
and
>japs don't do Pearl Harbor
Also, if Spain had joined Axis there would have been nothing stopping Portugal joining the Allies.
Lol, Portugal was fascist and with more ties with Spain Italy and Germany in early XX.
>Upon the start of the war in 1939, the Portuguese Government announced on 1 September, that the 600-year-old Anglo-Portuguese Alliance remained intact, but that since the British did not seek Portuguese assistance, Portugal was free to remain neutral in the war and would do so. In an aide-mémoire of 5 September 1939, the British Government confirmed the understanding.
Yes, that's the "I'm not gonna help you" from the Portugueses.
>Porneutral
The Portugeese hostet Edward VII who was a honour guest of Hitler once and said 'I wish Mr. Hitler the best of luck, for the future of europe', just saiying
so said Churchill speaking about Mussolini, what's your point?
That was before Hitler started invading people.
To the Bong that Portugal had has fashist ties and tendencies
They send condolences to Germany after Hitler's sudoku
If that one Norwegian lad hadn't sabotaged Nazi Germany's nuclear research and managed to develop a nuclear weapon faster than Americans, which is not something unthinkable, they would have had a very real chance.
they didnt need the heavy water shit in norway, in retrospect the demolition thing was pointless
