No they'll learn it quite well. My uncle just came to Canada and he already speaks English pretty well and that's on top of knowing Arabic+Tigrinya.

The "small" difference is the massive population under a single goverment that can enforce efficient laws and regulations compared to EU with its dozens of different countries with different socioeconomical situations.
Plus the level where chinese economy started was stoneage compared to where EU are has been for quite a while.
Chinese economy will start level itself when most of the population shifts to middle or higher middle class lifestyle and the starts to turn more into service industry from to basic industry and primary production.
