does Pans Labyrytnh count as Mexican or as Spanish
its set in Spain with Spanish actors but the director is Mexican

Is it good as they say? Its getting harder to find decent movies

That's wrong though.
Best latin american movies come from Argentina.

Which latin american movies have you watched?

>Why are Mexican movies so much better than the rest of latin america?

They aren't. Stop thinking that Brazil's movie industry is representative of Latin America as a whole. Brazil is the China of the Americas with regards to shitty knock-offs, don't blame the entire rest of Latin America for Brazil.

Latino film is shit

Our cinemas have been trying to support them since the 90's when El Lado Oscuro del Corazón became something of a cult classic but all they've sent since is cringe film student with a budget fare.

Other than Chile's Jodorowsky and Brazil's Cidade de Deus that's about it.

mexican

What the fuck are you talking about? Name 10 br movies

>Its getting harder to find decent movies

This. It feels like ive watched all movies worth watching

Forgot to add, Cubans make great cinema, they're the exception alongside us.

Ratatoing, The Frog Prince, What's Up? Balloon to the Rescue, Little Bee, The Little Cars: The Great Race, The Little Cars 2: Rodopolis Adventures, The Little Cars 3: Fast and Curious, The Little Cars 4: New Genie Adventures, The Little Panda Fighter and Gladiformers.

ciudad de dios
citate de dio
tropa de elite

Start watching stuff like the turin horse and andrei rublev

Holy shit... That's your knowledge about BR movies? You gotta be kidding me... You're joking, right?

>A Viaxem de Chihiro (or anything else by studio ghibli)
>O pianista (ww2)
>Airbag (comedy/action)
>Torrente (comedy/action)
>Idiocracy (comedy / sci-fi )
>Hackers 2: Takedown
>Tora tora Tora (ww2)
>Memento (psychological thriller)
hope this helps

Que peliculas hacen los cubanos?
No he visto una en mi vida.

They should do more movies like city of god t bh. I loved everything about that movie

its one of those special movies that actually used normal people from the streets. like Menace II Society
youtube.com/watch?v=nz2p5nk-X-E
it makes them feel much more authenthic, they are barely actors, they are just playing themselves.
for example the kid that cries in city of god is crying for real. they scared him to death

There's another one called city of men
youtube.com/watch?v=fTX9BuWTxv8

Another one that was a big thing here was Elite squad

Cool thanks

Attached: approval.jpg (680x544, 30K)

some mexican poster told me that film is just unique, majority of new mexican films are 1-2 hour long soap operas.

Same as for you, you need the profitable garbage to build up an industry that can make the good stuff

That'sn why countries who only invest in state sponsored cinema never really get anywhere

Yeah it gives me the same feeling of l'haine. People felt more realistic than in other movies

Attached: L'haine.jpg (1100x1571, 246K)

why br Portuguese sound so much better than portugal portuguese

That was a good movie

I don't know... Maybe you like that we pronounce all the vowels? Portuguese people eat vowels

I'm not saying that our version is better but Portuguese people eat vowels and speak in a manner that you could describe as "potato in their mouths"
A word like trabalhar sounds like trblhar coming out of their mouths

i like when you guys speak you have a stange "~"up and down sound its unique. Portugal portuguese sound just like spanish mix with russian

oh and i think its also the nose sound that you use to pronounce words

Mexican director
Mexican writers
Mexican producers
Mexican cinematographer

Like the narcos series is American even if it is set in other countries with foreign actors from said countries. Or coco is an American movie despite the same.

>Am I the only one?
No, there's always millions of unique fags asking the exact same question.

Mexico is the only latam country with any money

Dude... have you ever googled to see if you what you're saying is accurate?
it's not
Instead of making up stuff just admit that you guys only have watched mexican stuff. It's ok.

Birds of Passage was breddy good tho

is money in total more important than HDI or the safety of its citize- *sees flag* oh

Recommend good Mexican movies.

Mexicans have more Amerindian ancestry, which gives them special sensibilities about the nature of life and time

Mexican cinema is the standard for which try hard cinema is measured

Because. Mexico has 2 good directors Inarrito and CUaron.
The rest of South America has 0

UH?

Recommend me another movie like El Infierno

>Coco
>Mucha Lucha the Movie
>Nacho Libre
>Kill Bill vol.2 (The last part when they are in Mexico)
>Beverly Hills Chihuahua
>Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2
>Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3

Planet of the Apes
King Kong (Pedro II biopic)

If it isn't one of our runaway states

Attached: pepe11.jpg (306x306, 61K)

Woah didnt know we were that based

Whats it about

I must know
Is the title referring to the city or to the gypsies?

Forgot the Eugenio Derbez movies.

esas son aburridas

The only good Mexican movies come from Inarrito and Alfonso Cuaron

>Inarrito
Iñarritu hehhe

Non meme neither

well, could've been worse

so according to this thread and a quick google search i made, so its bound to have a lot of mistakes, these are the best mexican kino i could find, from all eras, and including co-productions and foreign directors like buñuel and jodorowsky, working in mexico making mexican films

if this is the best, the region is pretty doomed

Attached: films.jpg (683x1977, 765K)

names

is the list accurate tho?

Attached: films2.png (682x6941, 1.26M)

>Del Toro
>Carlos Navarro
>Juan Bustillo
Them movies were better than anything of Cuaron theyre also Classics

Alguien vio Roma? IMDB dice que es wena pero prefiero una recomendación de ustedes

>La ley de Herodes
hot diggity dam, it sound interesting.

Attached: 1454202431200.jpg (180x192, 16K)

Too many foreign movies and not the best of cine de oro or the indie film era of the 60's-80's, you're missing classics like La Oveja Negra or El Apando ffs plus if you're going to label as Mexican all films by Mexican directors where's some of the better ones like The Revenant or Children of Men?

>if this is the best, the region is pretty doomed
Even then that list of movies isn't that bad you should say that, more than half of it is solid and even if some. like Modisto de Señoras, aren't exactly classical cinema they're top tier for their genre

I wish you found a picture with better resolution OP.

That's a lot better than what most countries have for cinema. You should feel proud.

a “white mexican” unless descended from recent immigrants is still 5% Amerindian. this is what gives them unbelievable power and instinctive facility with cinematic expression, above and far beyond what Iberians or the “Europeans” of Argentina or Paraguay are capable of.

t. Huillem Pedro Pachamama Huaina Ortiz, PeruANO

Del toro has Pan's Labyrinth, the rest is shit.
The others, I have never heard about

kek

The three of them right next to one another looks like one of those castas paintings.

come on, i said it wasn't meant to be an extensive research no need to get mad pls
>too many foreign movies
at least all of those are co-productions, right? i tried to double check and they are mexican productions in part, which is not the case for children of men or the revenant

>la oveja negra
>el apando

could you name some more?

>foreign movies and not the best of cine de oro or the indie film era of the 60's-80's
do tell

bump for more names

If you're going for b movies Satanico Pandemonium beats Alucarda, there's the Meche Carreño films like La Chota, El Profeta Mimi is generally acknowledged one of Lopez Tarso's better roles, there's Miroslava and La Mujer de Benjamin from the 90's, you're missing comedians like Piporro or Hector Suárez, also more iconic films like Mecánica Nacional or something from the 60's like Julio Alemán, etc.

And I'm not even touching actual cinema, directors like Ripstein, Cazals and Fons or Noir with Armendáriz and el indio Fernández.

It would be a matter of some actual research to make something like a good list of movies.

aight thanks, i'll see what i can find from this

Bumpi
