And the beauty of it all: the Chainlink system is part of the back-end, so people can take all the credit for innovative products like Fizzy, while in the back those products will be running on CL.

Its almost a year after SIBOS and they still didn‘t finish anything despite claiming to already know what they have to do.
Its painfully obvious that many important parts of this project are still not even developed.
As a coder myself I assume the problem is that they can‘t get the consensus and reward mechanism to work.
I give the chainlink project another year til they shut it down.

the consensus mechanism is whatever you code it to be when you make your smartcontract. all the chainlink team can do is write a framework/guide.

You can grab info from any api on ropsten. You may need to develop an external adaptor to format the data properly but natively supported types include json parsing.

As far as connecting all the Azure services to one another I don't think they will need oracles as all that data resides on trusted Microsoft servers. The oracles will only come into play when accessing resources external to Azure as the providera will be in the public domain / untrusted
