We don't have a winter break here. Just not any classes or exams during next week. We have exams in January and they will schedule seminars and such right after new year if they want.

fuck off idiot, i go to one of the best schools in the world and i'm studying easily one of the hardest majors there. and i'm one of the top schools in the department. i worked on schoolwork 120 hours a week last semester because i had so many problem sets and they were so difficult. my fun? phoneposting on Jow Forums while i ate food.

Here, the credits are divided by examination activity. If the entire course is examined through a written exam, then you can do that. But often the course credits are assigned to project activities as well, which means you have to do the project work.

2 of the classes were supposed to be pretty easy but they ended up being really hard because of the specific professor
i think i still got As in everything, but that's probably why i had to work so many hours, because i was expecting to keep up straight As. might not have been that bad if i didn't care about that or if my school grade inflated, but they don't, so you actually have to get an A-range grade (>93ish) to get an A in almost every case

If you want to work for the really prestigious firms, most of them will use it as a heuristic for newly graduated applicants.

I don't think it even matters in USAland. At the end of the degree you write a paper that is then graded, right? That shit is the only thing that matters if anything.

i'd need some more research and other experience as well, but most of that comes a bit later in my major (just 2nd year right now)
grad school is very competitive, and postdocs even more so, and lecturer positions more yet, and tenured professor positions are a total crapshoot. but you have to try if it's what you love. there are plenty of fallbacks which pay a whole lot more as long as i'm good.
of course the main reason is because i love what i'm doing and it's the most interesting thing in the world to me, and i'd never want to stop regardless of what ends up happening. but it would sure as shit be nice to get paid for it.

SAT is high school, but in college they care about GPA and coursework most, then research experience and letters of recommendation and publications, then GRE (which is like the college SAT, no clue why it exists).

At my university, your thesis gets a pass or fail at the Master's level (speaking as an engineering student here). The impact of your work tends to be allowed to speak for itself. If you've worked with some company, they'll probably give you a bonus if they're satisfied. A friend of mine was paid €10,000 for his thesis last year.

I don't know but university is free here. I got into medicine even though I'm half-retard half human and I've barely scraped by so far. I have passed all the exams except for one at the beginning of this term which I repeated and passed, but now a few weeks ago I failed another one. So I'll have to repeat that one as well. I am by far the least intelligent person in my entire class.

The SAT is one of the tests you take to get into universities. GPA is just an average of your grades at whatever school you're at.

You can have fun every single day with your new uni/college friends, catch up with highschool friends who now attend a different uni/college, visit Christmas markets/christmas shopping, catch up on your favourite bhutanese motion pictures if you're more of a loner, work a student job to pass time and make ends meet, study for the next semester, read books, hang out at clubs, etc.
There are limitless possibilities waiting in the winter break that you are refusing to see!
