British man from my work lives in Moscow for five years and he says he was surprised that he never was robbed, he lived in many European countries and encountered multiple thefts or attemtps.
I was surprised too because I thought that Russia is more criminal than Western Europe. But pickpocketing is really uncommon thing, I never heard of it from anyone I know since 2000. Statistics say there are 750 registered thefts a year in Moscow subway while passnenger count is 2,5 billion. People care about being pickpocketed only when gypsies enter train — everybody hold their bags and wallets in hands.
Paris is popular for their pickpockets. The more popular the place is, the more pickpocket you'll find. Just make sure to have zips on your pockets or just fucking close your bag.

I've never been pick-pocketed and I've don't think I know anyone who has in England. Maybe we're good for it, or maybe its because I don't live in London.

>People care about being pickpocketed only when gypsies enter train When was last time you've seen gypsy in Moscow? I can't remember my last time I've seen them, it was few years ago, maybe even decade.

I see gypsy women with kids at least once a month on paveletskaya station, in summer there even was a camp (I don't know hot to translate "tabor") near a rail terminal there.

The majority of arrests in Amsterdam are performed on Bulgarians and Romanians. Make of that what you will.

Not really, that requires a functional enough police/court system the necessary skillset is worth acquiring, armed robbery OTOH...

My father once got his phone stolen, but it actually was on the gas station
