That takes a lot of time and its fine to take things bit by bit and taking years to make progress. I'm in a situation where I don't let anyone get close to me or feel any love of some sort to another person since I think that after death we're all just going to be separated. If I go to heaven and they go to hell I won't feel anything but pity and that scares me. Same with vice versa. Even if we're in hell, we're still separated. In heaven, there's a possibility all the memories gets wiped out and the relationship between two people won't be the same. Married people won't be married anymore and that love you felt for your wife wont be there. Even not considering the afterlife, caring too much is scary since separation or even getting betrayed is hurtful enough.
Good luck, user. Even if you won't end up believing in God, I wish you overcome your issues.
