Fact: California has the 5th largest economy in the world ranked by GDP.

Fact: California’s poverty rate is 19%.

The regulations followed the economic success. Not the other way around. It's a lottery ticket to get to be the the state that occupies most of the Western seaboard and ports, and have Silicon Valley sprout up in you and represent the modern economy. Regulations didn't make this happen, the state succeeds in serious spite of them. For now. The budget is in some deep shit and they won't be able to coast on their luck forever.

I’d love to read your dissertation on such a categorical claim. You’d have to be naive to think it’s that simple or that policy and economic development moves in such a straightforward manner. You’re giving a verbal argument without really meaning or knowing what you’re saying. Just because you can string together grammatical correct sentences does not mean what you’re saying is true or even empirical possible.

Did you read what I said? My point is more or less describing the states success in relation to heavy regulation except your “in spite of” traffics in your ideological bias that heavy regulation and extreme economic success are ultimately incompatible.
