First of all, we practically handed them $300 million, paid them $200 million as recompense for a fee, and another $300 million for a private loan in the 1965 Japan-Korea Basic Treaty. This comes to a less-than-modest $800 million.
This is more than twice the Korean national budget at the time.
Since these values are from around 1965, I will convert the value considering modern inflation. Also, please consider that $300 million of the $800 million was simply handed over.

· (Price conversion) 108 billion yen × 10 (the initial salary of the university graduate at that time is about 20,000 yen) = 1,080 billion yen

Suppose we divide this as a total of 900,000 people who compensate for 700,000 compulsory entrainment workers, and 200,000 comfort women as claimed by Korea (there were few cases, such as compulsory entourage, veteran comfort women etc.).

· (Converted victims of compulsory victims) 1,080 billion yen / 900,000 people / 1,200,000 yen / person.

Japan has abandoned the assets left in the pre-war Korea. This is an act that is fully applicable as post-war reparation, as the precedent that Indian individuals were returned to India when it became independent from Great Britain. And the Korean government surprisingly, has not informed the people about this treaty. Is it to conceal what was diverted to national development without paying to individuals? Or maybe it is to aim for an increase in Japanese hate within the Korean people? Or perhaps both?

The IWG published a report focused on the Japanese war crime titled “Researching Japanese War Crimes, Introductory Essays”. In the report, the IWG analysed the reason why comfort women documents were scarce.

"Licensed prostitution was legal in prewar Japan, and Allied officials viewed the small part of the overseas system they uncovered as an extension of homeland practices. Prosecuting Japanese soldiers for rape, a notorious crime everywhere the army set foot, took precedence over investigating the circumstances of “comfort women,” who were seen as professional prostitutes, not as unwilling victims coerced into brothels by employees of the Japanese military."

This analysis is in line with the "Japanese Prisoner of War Interrogation Report 49" written in 1944, which describes "A 'comfort girl' to be nothing more than a prostitute or 'professional camp follower' attached to the Japanese Army for the benefit of the soldiers."
