Are native English speakers blessed to have the lingua franca as their mother tongue?
Are native English speakers blessed to have the lingua franca as their mother tongue?
In terms of entertainment..yes, absolutely. But you can thank America for that :^)
No we’re not, because English isn’t the lingua franca. Foreigners learn American. And it makes us extremely vulnerable to American autism.
nah
most native speakres are monolinguals, and being monolingual is the same as being a beta cuck
but it literally translates to "language of the franks"
No, speaking English as a non-native is cool. Speaking English as a native is just... natural and boring.
I feel cucked for learn english
well to be fair it means you guys need to compete with literally billions of competent workers who have perfect command of English, along with several other languages.
>for learn English
I don't think you've learned it yet buddy
But really, Jow Forums shouldn't be where you use English if you actually put in the effort to learn it
No, non-Anglo Germanic language speakers are the blessed ones because we get all the benefits of being bilingual and easy access to the Anglophone world at the same time.
considering a huge amount of the worlds political discourse, social media, and creative output is in english, i feel like people who don't speak english at all are missing out hugely. like, they live in a completely different world.
that said, as a native english speaker it makes english media and such pretty mundane. lately i've been getting my kicks by delving into swedish and german music and film.
having easy access*

I'm a native Russian speaker but I'm forgetting how to speak it
I've mostly forgotten how to read and write

I’m Iranian and when I was 8 I came to America so I speak both Farsi and English fluently. Iranians in general are more in command of their language, know the etymologies, and can access literature and poetry deeper in time. It might be the same for Brits but Americans don’t know shit. Going to Public School in the US really opens your eyes man. I don’t even think Americans are necessarily stupid, and I think they’re some of the kindest and sweetest people I met. It’s just the consumer lifestyle and culture really does cull your brainpower.
I’ve met articulate English speakers who don’t speak English as their first language. Luckily there’s a lot of resources for learning English, a lot more than any other language.
Lmao. I felt the same way, soon the luster will wear off and you’ll realize how selfish the culture of anonymity made you, and how incapable you are of processing your feelings
gib mi South Sakhalin too
>Thank you good
Um??
>I felt the same way, soon the luster will wear off and you’ll realize how selfish the culture of anonymity made you, and how incapable you are of processing your feelings
