I simply can not comprehend the irrelevancy of Egypt. Given it's location, population and history it should have some kind of significance but I keep forgetting it exists entirely.
What the hell went so wrong?

Egypt isn't irrelevant. It's a regional power.
Is poor and has arab smell
Islam.
Before Islam Egypt was the richest piece of land on this planet.
cucked by Greeks
cucked by Romans
ultracucked my Muslims
You mean before Islam Egypt was the breadbasket of the Roman Empire but not particularly powerful or relevant in it's own right? Fatimids were centered in Egypt, so Islam gave it
What's your fav Nordic Civilization, Jow Forums? For me, it's a tie between Ancient Rome, Sumeria and Rus.
Today Egypt is just another Arab shithole, nothing to do with ancient Egypt
cringe.
just in the last 2 decades , when the US started supporting Israel and Saudi Arabia and making overrated countries like Iran famous
before that Egypt was the most important country in the region in almost everything
I don't believe it to be honest. Which countries do they have actual influence over? They barely have their own shit together. Same with Indonesia and Pakistan
Isn't Egypt still like the cultural leader of the Arabic world? Their dialect is regarded as the most posh and literary one.
Copts are descendant of Greek collonist.
no they are descended from indigenous Egyptians who were culturally hellenized.
Having the poshest accent means nothing in terms of cultural output. Upper class Brits contribute nothing to culture these days
Pakistan is a nuclear power with a 200 mil pop.
Indonesia has a 3 trillion economy with a 300 mil pop.
You forgot the Persians
The only regional power in africa are China and the us.
I watched Agora
damn
And which countries do they influence?
US is done and failed everything in Africa. China is the new master.
The whole Arab world watches their movies and media productions, their soft power in sports isn't too bad either. The Arabic dialect is the most prevalent one and the most learned among foreigners. Cairo is a major theological center, major clerics have studied in Cairo. It's the most populous Arabic and middle-eastern state and one of the most populous in all of Africa. They have considerable sway in these geographical sub-regions.
And Russia is best friends with Egypt. Not China, not the US.
No, it isn't.
Modern Egypt turned to shit because Nasser's government planning and what not was good in the short term, evidenced by his reforms and what not, but was terrible in the long term given how it put military institutions above civilian ones.
Also, islamist bullshit. I personally do NOT support democracy in Egypt. There has been a lot of economic growth lately but the average egypsie doesn't feel it because it never really sorta "trickle down".
Please stop propagating this meme. You do realize most Christians come from Upper and middle Egypt?
>Their dialect is regarded as the most posh and literary one
"No". Egyptian Arabic, and egyptian language(s) in general, sound very orc-ish.
I would argue otherwise desu.
Their dialect is widely understood because they are basically the hollywood of the arab world, but it isn't literary
I thought they didn't give a shit about africa since they wanted to focuse on the middle east, but even that they seem to give up on.
Feels like the americans don't have the will to stay a global power anymore.
>Please stop propagating this meme. You do realize most Christians come from Upper and middle Egypt?
how is it a meme? It’s the truth, like Assyrians
They started to retreat since Bush Jr actually.
lmaoing @ mehico and argentina
Arab
Because, there really isn't a large difference between christians and muslims in Egypt, nor do most people(unless you're in North Sinai or something) even care. We still both celebrate Sham-enessim.
Also, I am sick of that meme because westernoids on this bhutanese hawk breeding forum keep posting pictures of white "egyptian" copts and then claim that the "true" Egyptians were in fact pale white.
>there really isn't a large difference between christians and muslims in Egypt
*except for religious practices.
I don't know about Egypt and Pakistan since not every source recognises them as a regional power; but Indonesia being the only G20 nation in ASEAN which is a very influential association in itself with its headquarters in Jakarta makes Indonesia the somewhat de facto leader of the organisation, which says something about its influence.
>white copts
>copts greeks
i never understood this meme
if we talk about "whiteness" , wasn't the Mamluk Egypt like the most white period in the Egyptian history since the rulers were from the Caucasus and South Russia + Turkics ?
rude
Everyone keeps missing the point. Having big personal numbers doesn't mean your country is influencing others in any way. There is no such thing as the "de facto leader" of organisations like ASEAN, that would make no sense at all.
>goalpost movement championship
well, how would you define regional influence?
Having influence on the region around you.... I don't understand why the concept is apparently so confusing
so things like... having the seat of a regional economic association in your capital, having a high GDP and population which coupled with exports has a high regional economic influence, exporting your media to the entire region... things that you've dismissed so far..
islamic conquest in the 7th century
>Egypt went from a Persian , Greek , Roman colony with nothing , to one of the strongest states in that time , Fatimids , Mamluks and states after Ottoman
>but but i'm an NPC autist kid , i repeat what others say instead of working my brain and read some history
