post the absolute top tier of christmas food in your country
poland
barszcz z uszkami
what is it?
Well I am not Polish but the words mean “borsch with ears” I’m assuming pig ears.
Yeah and gołąbki are made from real pigeons
ok thanks
I expected it to be sweet noodles/pastry in cherry sauce for some reason
borsch with little pierogis
panettone
thanks italy for panettone
Ah I almost didn’t get that one
Well slavs do make dumplings filled with cherry or other fruits, they’re very good
>looks like peeled skin in blood sauce
polish food is disgusting
But Ivan, you don't celebrate Christmas for another month?
yep, it's for New Year, our anologue for Xmas
>add vareniki in borsh
What? Why?
Sounds fantastic. I love both of those things.
Borscht is made from beets, thus the color.
we've got that too
what I really like are quark dumplings filled with plums and on top of that a little cinnamon
That looks/sounds really good, Helmut.
the fact that most Americans have never seen dumplings ('peeled skins') or a meat-based broth ('looks like shit') in their lives is true Jow Forums discussion material
christmas is the only time we have food like this
What's unique about these shrimps that makes them Christmas shrimps?
Polish language is abomination.
we have this christmas food called Mazapan wich is like a really sweet pastry
spanish families never eat molluscs during the year except if they're rich
so in christmas everyone buys molluscs, crabs, shrimps... and prices skyrocket
we bought frozen shrimps like 2 months ago so that it was a decent price
>spanish families never eat molluscs during the year except if they're rich
Wow I really didn't know this at all. I thought your diet was, in fact, pretty rich in seafood. Good shrimp aren't exactly cheap in the US either but cheaper than crab, scallops, etc.
yeah expensive seafood is restricted to marriages, christmas, important celebrations...
Can't wait to have some delicious seafood tonight~
Joulutorttu
Gravilohi
We roast a stuffed pork leg. Maybe some turkey and ham.
Blessings to all catholic folks.
pigs in blankets
Chestnut Turkey is the traditional Christmas dish here
Also foie gras, and champagne
The turkey is also stuffed, often with foie gras or chestnut flavoured meat
And dessert is the "Christmas tree trunk", usually chocolate-based but it can be fruits or even ice cream
Sometimes it's goose or capon instead of turkey
But sometimes it varies, i have already seen deer/doe or boar meat for christmas, sometimes foie gras is also replaced by oysters, smoked salmon or caviar
btw here this year i have foie gras and chestnut capon with mushroom (chanterelle and girole)
the best is tomorrow noon, we are in nw so in my family the tradition is sea-based food on noon meal of the next day
this year it's st jacques scallops with calvados creme fraiche and apples
> Roast Potatoes
>shit tier
This is so wrong. Roast Potatoes and gravy are the best thing about a roast
I feel you Seamus. You gotta smash them a little with your fork so more of the liquid gets in there.
Jveux de la bûche à la crème en glace asteur que t'as posté ça
My wife and I have made chicken and dumplings a Christmas Eve tradition now. Pretty comfy.
what is pierogi
joyeux noël tabarnak
Potato wrapped in dough
false
That's what the Polish diaspora call pierogies here
>My wife and I
>wife
wtf normie, what r you doin' here?
Dumplings filled with various stuff. Very similar to Japanese gyoza but with European flavors rather than Asian. A really simple variety I like is potato pierogi with butter, sour cream, and vinegar.
>only catholics
discriminatory
Enjoying a long holiday week off of work. How about you, Ivan?
sounds nice
"Sopa cana", dessert, basically milk + almond paste + sugar + cinnamon + floating toasted bread.
What southern state are you from, my dixie friend? I haven't had chicken and dumplings since I left Alabama.
just wasting my life like other anons
This is what norwegian patricians eat
I see this posted here every Christmas and it looks delicious. Since I've never had that (yet), fenalår is my favorite distinctly Norwegian meat dish. If I'm not mistaken, this is also enjoyed on holidays?
I'm from Michigan, actually. I didn't know chicken and dumplings was considered a southern thing lol. Always had it growing up.
Southerners definitely think it's a southern thing but if you ate it growing up and your parents aren't southern either, maybe it's more widespread now than I realized.
Real blood dishes look even stranger than this
Fish soup
Wiki says it's common across the south and midwest. My guess is that it's just cheap and easy poor people food.
I was trying to find the pic of the lamprey being cooked in its own blood. That thing looks like a satanic ritual.
>this chart
Brit food is fucked beyond recovery isnt it
its for novi god
What kind of sod doesn't like parsnips?
leave us alone you racist cunt
I dunno man. They're like a better version of carrots imo.
he's right
my christmas gift for you is good taste, please get some
My nigga
>it reminds him of his long gone foreskin, brutally ripped off by the rabbi's teeth
Cease your desinformation
Pierogi can have literally any filling, including sweet fruity ones. The Ruthenian style potato with cottage cheese is just one of many. Christmas style are usually with forest mushrooms.
We usually roast a piglet for Christmas in my family
I get that you don't like hohols but eating them is a bit too much Ivan
kek
Checked i keked
Looks like yushka but with paprika, is it spicy?
based
mumma
My grandma brought хoлoдeц, fucking disgusting. Also Kapusta tho, so it is okay.
is that gelatine fish? if so fuck you for not eating what your grandma brings you for christmas
>not eating fish
and germans think they are germanic. disgusting
It’s holodets dude, basically meat that has been cooked with pig’s feet so that the gelatin turns the whole thing into a essentially meat-filled jello once it’s cooled. It’s unpleasant by itself but really delicious with some horseradish
Kalvsylta. I like kalvsylta
You are weak
Also you should eat it with mustard or horseradish root and black bread for perfection.
You motherfucker.
bump
Based. I'll be eating prawns for dinner too lad
As much as I have Poland, barszcz z uszkami is heaven sent.
Also uszka are a kind of special Christmas dumplings.
Y'all got me fucked up if you think I'm celebrating Christmas any other way
Why is there always an angry russki bring annoying just for the sake of it even on Christmas Eve
Fuck, I want Spanish Christmas dinner now
List of things I'm eating for christmas.
This is some fake borsch.
no one cares what a bunch of larpers who are propably kikes or hohols say
Not the other guy but yeah it is, I also ate pinnekjött today and it was delicious.
In leafland we eat baked turkey at Christmas time.
Comfy
Tourtière of Lac-Saint-Jean
