To be fair, there was a pretty big scandal where Todai was found to be actively discriminating against female medical school applicants who, even though they had passed the entrance exam, were told they failed and were rejected. Now it is thought that a lot of schools in Japan were doing this.
That said, I believe in more traditional female-male roles and would rather society/culture encourage women to be the support of the family and not waste their time being a roastie pretending to have a career only to never work after having a kid.

Is this still true nowadays? I haven't met many Japanese girls (only a few visiting Australia), but it seems like they didn't care about money that much and they all wanted to work in professional jobs like banking and finance. Maybe the older ones are still happy to be housewives.
