Or that the chemicals used to fight with that brown slush slowly eat through your boots so you have to buy a new pair.
Or that most of the time the snowfalls are so intense that they completely block the roads and you realise that not computers and TVs are the essentials of civilisation but means of transportation.
Or that short days, long nights and lack of sunlight slowly turns you into a sack of depressed meat.
It's not just "oh, it's so snowy and beautiful, what a lovely day" more often it's "oh fuck I have to leave my warm cave to get supplies, better gear up".
Yes, you may know all that as a general knowledge you read somewhere but you don't really KNOW that.
