Giant building. All that empty space. No actual books.
One big room, with a flat roof and no sound dampening. Shit's gonna echo and be loud af.
Only seating is right in the middle of a wide open area. Forced to sit right next to a bunch of people. Other people walking past constantly.
No comfy corner or hidey-hole with armchairs and couches and a window view.
Not even some kind of public use computer lab area.
What a shit library.
oh it's just Qatar it's supposed to be impressive, not useful, same with the "National Museum of Qatar", just look at it, what do you think they are going to fill all that enormous space with? they are showing off their wealth thats all
also even though the design of the library might not suit the needs the best but I still like the aesthetics so I guess it has some value at least for some people

go out on Open Doors Milwaukee in early september, and check out as many of the cool sites that open up then.
and unrelatedly - milwaukee is a great city. you should do your best to enjoy it. really. i miss living there.
why wouldn't they? they have to learn from someone and the native Chinese architects weren't really there
also, it's still very prestigious if you build something big designed by a globally acknowledged studio
it just seems to go against the whole chinese >we iz gunna do everything for ourselves meme
the dutch company that designed that tianjin library has designed some huge dogshit buildings
Holy shit this thread is back!
well I don't see it as being against anything, any country will want a Zaha Hadid design etc, anyway Xi went butthurt about all those "weird" buildings and like a few years ago there was an announcement they are going to be banned but as we can see it's still happening so I don't know

Is there anyone who likes this design?
don't you like it ; )
I mean at least from a distance I think it looks better than the Guggenheim in Bilbao and Walt Disney museum but those are both low bars
Does it look like the house of the 1st world country?
looks like a bad unity game
This is T2, an expansion for our airport.

Denoiser cut everything. Don't look at the render quality. It's about the feel of dominance in this world. Do you feel this?
That looks like a poorly built plastic box. Even a Khrushchev era apartment is built better.
>architecture thread on Jow Forums is more civilized than the one on /his/
Either someone put shrooms in my new years leftovers or I'm just now noticing the non-shit posters of this board. Good work guys. Shame I came in so late, I have a fucking massive archive from architecture threads on Jow Forums and /w/ dating back to 2011. good bit of unseen content since then.
