To be fair, I don't think he's railing about whiteness as much as about the fact that, genetically, Levantines are closely related to certain European populations such as Greeks, Italians and even French.

Names aren't always a good tell for ethnicity. For example, in Canada you'll find people named "John Smith" who are 100% tiraflechas; in Russia you'll find people named "Vyacheslav Ivanov" who are 100% Finno-Ugric, and so on. Levantines adopted the culture of Arabs, so it's not surprising that they would end up with Arab names.
