Well fuck my ass, because i know for a fact you can make more working at a deli in toronto than you can as just about anything else in the city, and knowing most NYC apartments cost 10k a month. your folks must be fucking canadian royalty.

you could, but every one is an asshole here so its to be expected, just dont talk to anyone on the street. if you absolutely need directions go into a chain restaurant to ask, but even then dont be obvious. dont use the subways and stick with uber.

Few other notes
Avoid using subway for the first month or two. It's easy to get lost and all the crazies roam the subway.
When using the subways, WEAR HEADPHONES AND AVOID EYE CONTACT. I can't tell you how many times I've seen tourist get harassed by beggars or religious nuts because they made eye contact. Can't stress this enough.

New York City has been safe ever since Guliano set the NYPD loose on the blacks and browns. 25 years ago it was one of the most dangerous cities in the world, but today it is safer than Toronto.

NYC isn’t that dangerous assuming you aren’t willingly going to the shady areas. The NYPD for all the problems they have has been cracking down hard the past few decades, just stick to your own devices and you’re good. You will see some crazy shit, whether it’s some dude off his rocker mumbling gibberish to everyone walking by or a bunch of people taking selfies in Times Square in the middle of the fucking road, just keep a blank face and power your way to wherever you’re going.
They better be making some major bank then.

I'm from LA and I visited NYC for a week and a half. I actually found both cities to be very similar so I don't know why people claim that one is better than the other. I didn't feel unsafe in black neighborhoods in Brooklyn. They were actually good people trying to work and live their lives.

The blacks in Harlem and The Bronx. Damn, now that's where I felt like I had to watch my back.
