Cartoon channels constantly played Tom & Jerry whenever they had no show planned.
Most of the shows were either boring cgi shit, or a dubbed Japanese anime that is heavily censored and the story ends up not making any sense. Tom & Jerry was one of the only entertaining shows that wasn't censored and was fun to watch

Same thing here, but we used to have mildly censored children's anime on TV before 2006.

Oh man. You have no idea how much they censored and cut down entire storylines because of muh religion. Liquor bottles and alcohol are called "juice bottles" in the dub. Even slice of life anime shit gets censored. They overcolor the female characters' legs to make it seem like they're wearing leggings. Crushes and romantic relationships are watered down to 'intense friendship'or some other asinine plotline. It was pretty weird, but I'm pretty sure most kids were clueless of the censorship till they grew up and watched the source material.
Meanwhile in French Cartoons, they dedicated an entire episode where the main character thinks he's got his first pube. I didn't know what pubes were and I was FUCKING 12.
