no, it's an actual roman temple, romans had a huge presence in cherchell, there is a roman themed museum just around the corner there that has plenty of statues and artifacts left around collected from the region and a bit around, I'm guessing some restitution and reparations took place by the byzantines and the french maybe

that's nice, I'm guessing ottoman built? it's always a better option than just out right destruction and reconstruction, it keeps a tab on the history of the region, we have an old french built church in the capital that was turned into a mosque too, and the interior is so interesting to look at and pray inside, with all the different rooms and stairs going everywhere,

there really was an arcade in front of the entrance though, but it was pulled down by the Christians after the city was taken back at the end of the 17th century, together with the minaret

that arcade is a common design for all mosques, as it provides an area that's covered from rain where people would leave their shoes on since we aren't allowed to keep them on inside
