Fuck 1km away, It feels way closer since I walk to it a lot.
I live next to a mini-mal. It's convenient, but it killed pretty much all the local businesses that didn't move into it. Letting large shopping centers within city limits was a mistake.

Same thing, they're located in the same plaza
I don't know what the difference between a convenience store and a grocery store is.
There's one small village store less than five minutes of walking away, bigger stores like Lidl and Hofer about ten minutes by car and about fifteen minutes in the other direction, there's a shopping centre.

They make even less sense as temples to car culture but I know what you mean, I actually know my butcher and the lady who sells me fruits/vegetables but that's only the good luck of living in a more traditional neighbourhood
I'm I should clarify, my nearest grocery store is a liquor store/delicatessen while my convenience store is a traditional corner shop, it makes for some awesome quality of life as it's a pretty place with near everything within a couple of blocks walking distance eg a cafe, a bakery
It isn't even a problem of population density, I live in Mexico City, it's just urban planning is made with the interests of developers in mind and they seek tio maximize profit at the expense of quality of life.
1st floor of my apartment is convenient store, so 0m in a sense.
Convenience store usually stock limited types of groceries and household goods. Grocery stores are a bigger type and usually stock more goods that you won't find in a convenience store like frozen/cut meat or fresh produce.
30km to the closest town
1km to grocery store
Convenience stores are pretty uncommon here, there's like one but it only sells sandmonkey stuff.
Over here almost every convenience store also functions as a MENA grocery store so at least the one nearby me stocks (cheap) fruits, vegetables, weird dairy products and Turkish breads

3km (different direction) to gas station
We don't really have convenience stores here, it's either supermarkets or stores inside of gas stations. Most villages have 2 or 3 supermarkets but they are in the center usually so you might have to go up to 5km to get to the next one.
