Shame that this language is the lingua franca, it's not thad bad written but it's horrible when spoken
I want to punch in the face every tourist I see when they speak with their awful american accent, hope that mexicans will one day invade the USA so their language get replaced
We'd probably just adopt Spanish as a secondary language à la Quebec with English or France with Arabic.
Henry Rodriguez
>i want to punch But you're too much of a bitch to. Kill yourself, frogfucker.
Nathan Cruz
It's the easiest, lowest common denominator language so it's never going away
Joshua Brooks
There's a bit of truth but not entirely : Spanish is just as easy and could have been a lingua franca as well. English just won thanks to the lucky combination of Great Colonial Empire + America. Like, literally, the US is 50% responsible of English being used in the world.
Gavin Cook
English is good though. It's easy as fuck to learn and easy enough to speak.
Oliver Ortiz
English is extremely flexible and someone with super broken English can still be understood. And yea its widely spoken because Anglos were the most successful. Get fucked mainlander subhumans.
easier than learning two alphabets and over 2000 moonrunes to be able to read anything
Justin Kelly
Don't worry it will be some neo-Mandarin dialect soon.
Josiah Butler
>someone with super broken English can still be understood Again, rest of your post is true but this is a non-argument. Same is true with someone with broken Spanish, broken French, etc ... Stop thinking English is the dominant language by any linguistic virtue of its own, the fact that it's piss easy to learn is only a lucky coincidence, it's dominant purely for historical & political reason - which is already impressive enough.
Mason Ramirez
it was a coincidence that France spent its time colonising useless Africans, the Spanish colonies never amounted to anything and the English built the best nations to grace this earth. Thats why its spoken and not your feminine mumbling.
Zachary Jackson
why are you so butthurt he gave good arguments you only gave edgyness
Chase Martinez
He thinks history was a coincidence. Which it was not. People didn't accidentally build empires and it wasn't by luck that any group accomplishes anything. His just your typical whining Frenchy.
Thomas Nguyen
his argument is fair tho, america almost used to speak german as first language for one vote at parliament, it was kinda luck, this argument is fair, but i guess you prefer yours that says other languages are for fags...
Gabriel Butler
>He thinks history was a coincidence No, you dumb cunt, I think the fact that English is easy is a coincidence when it comes to it being the lingua franca. I acknowledge fully its dominance for historical & political reasons, you're just looking for excuses to lash out poorly. Note, if you can, that the British Empire alone was no guarantee that English would've become lingua franca, since the Portuguese, French and Spanish Empires were also spread worldwide. It took both its geographical scale AND the overwhelming American superiority to make it as important as it is now, so drop the "British Empire" dicksucking act as it's not the sole reason for your language being dominant, you daft cunt.
Yes the English colonies spoke German as a first language. The meme about America being majority Germanic is because Germans populated areas with low people, so on a map it looks like America was 60% German. While the cities and the mass of the population were majority English. New France was the only noticeable non English colony in north America. All the others were tiny trading colonies that had such little influence once the masses of Brits and Irish flooded in.
Carson Lee
agree, une langue est un dialecte avec une armée et une marine(not a proper use of this quote tho)
David White
The other european languages don't have major nations equal to America. Thats why the 3rd worlders learn English and not French or Spanish. Not luck, not one bit. Frenchies should have spent more time defending New France and less time going after Africans if you wanted to be relevant today.
Jonathan Richardson
Again, this does not contradict what I'm saying one bit. In fact it's only agreeing with my posts, only you're turning it in a way to make it seem like you desperately want to attack me & France for...some reason ? I am not denying what you're saying, I just don't understand why you're so bent on trying to start an argument or demeaning my country. You must be angry for some unknown reason.
nan je suis juste un debutant japonais d'apprendre la langue
Aaron Clark
you say you agree but also call it luck, It can't be luck if you concede that success was not luck. it was not the case that we had Spanish and French colonies with equal success as English colonies and it was a random luck of the draw people learnt English to trade. There is 0% luck involved what so ever. Your statement of luck is what i disagree with and it is wrong. And im attacking Frenchies because they whine a lot lol
why it's always third world anglo countries that are always so pissed, it's funny to blame the frogs being jealous when we actually make the effort to speak your language on an americanized board..
Xavier Fisher
>the call the other person pissed/angry/mad technique is this 2009? trollface.jpg
Benjamin Williams
>but also call it luck You're really not the brightest tool in the shed are you ? Let me re-quote myself : > I think the fact that English is easy is a coincidence when it comes to it being the lingua franca. > Stop thinking English is the dominant language by any linguistic virtue of its own, the fact that it's piss easy to learn is only a lucky coincidence > English just won thanks to the lucky combination of Great Colonial Empire + America. If that last part is what triggers you, let me underline that no one could predict that the US would become the superpower it is today. Re-read these statements as many times as you need, I stand by them, you have to learn to re-shape your argument when it's been dismantled. What's happening here is that you're just feeling "attacked" because your little ego feels I'm trying to rob English of its merit when becoming a global language, and you feel the need to "defend" your mothertongue's honour because ??? So, a few things : - You had nothing to do with English becoming a lingua franca, nor the British Empire, nor the US becoming a juggernaut, so stop feeling attacked and feel the need to get vexed for achievements that were not yours. You were simply born in the Anglo world, molded by it. - You react like a literal woman, with feelings instead of reason. Admirable, but misguided. - English being easy a language is pure, dumb luck. It could be a complicated as fucking Vietnamese and it would still be the dominant language in the world. It being easy is not a valid argument, just a helping factor. - We can agree without you feeling the need to be scornful of my own country. - You can state you misunderstood something without being a cunt about it and throwing a fuss about it.
I am not denying the British their colonial superiority, if that's what's riling you up.
you're obviously mad when people are providing arguments and you answer with memes, yes the other frog is baiting you telling you it was only luck, but it was niether to anglo empire it was only thx to america egemony post ww1.
Adrian Phillips
I agree, but then again.. Could have been worse, the lingua franca could have been Fr*nch
I am not trolling ONE bit mate. Do not presumle to speak for me.
Brayden Brown
>will one day It's already happening, you stupid baguette
Brandon Cooper
>america almost used to speak german as first language for one vote at parliament This is a myth that gets commonly repeated, but there was never a vote concerning national languages. It's always been English. The German diaspora in the US were too insular to bother trying to replace English with German.
Noah Fisher
america being the most powerful country and spreading its culture written in shakespear language around the globe is nowhere near luck.
Jason Lopez
this French phonetics are even more retarded
Zachary Walker
Why are Frenchies such a walking stereotype? Both respond with the same "haha u mad" answer. Also earlier its stated that English is no easier or better for others to learn, and now it is because it suits your argument.
Jacob Jackson
>Australia >3rd world I doubt there is a single positive metric that France outscores Australia on. Aus has one of the highest standards of living on earth
Liam Morris
of course we respond you mad when you concolude your posts by >muuuuuh you wished you didn't colonized third world country you effeminate speaking cuck when you have a bag full of fair arguments to give but too lazy or dumb to give them..
Jacob Roberts
The fact that the scale of the British Empire and the power of the US would grant English its dominant status was unforeseeable at the time, that's what I call luck. Brits never had in mind to make their language dominant like that, that's the luck part, not the intelligence behind the building of the empire nor America's route to success. It took a combination of facts to make it happen that were never planned.
Well you do write like you're mad, mate, you're drowning your posts in shitty ad hominems as if we'd fucked your mom and abandoned you with a new wee bastard brother. > English is no easier or better for others to learn Saying English is no easier than some languages like Spanish does not negate the fact that English remains an easy language to learn. Still standing by what I wrote, you just seem to be bent on seeing things in black and white.
so every lingua franca spoken through history were just by luck.
Lucas Garcia
Java too. And C.
Jayden Flores
Well yeah, they were a consequence of one country's overwhelming dominance, a byproduct, never an intended design. What was not luck what said country's dominance. Tell me when did you ever read that the reason behind the Roman Empire, the French one or or something else was to spread their language ? It was for political or economical reason, the vanquished people simply adopted the victor's language as a consequence. Give credits where its due, to give it where it's unnecessary.
>What was not luck what said country's dominance. Tell me when did you ever read that the reason behind the Roman Empire, the French one or or something else was to spread their language never, this is why your argument saying english as lingua franca is pure luck can also be said for french or latin.. and even more for the french that were lucky to be in fucking middle of the only relevant countries back then.
>its widely spoken because Americans were the most successful always hilarious when irrelevant anglo countries try to take credit for what america did alone
Jace Cruz
But, user, I would say it also for French or Latin.
Hudson Harris
i think dutch should be the lingua franca
lekker
Hudson Flores
Yes, and Mexican-Spanish, that abortion of a dialect, is better than English?
Kill yourself. I'm yet to meet a living French that doesn't deserve to be beaten the fuck up.
Oliver James
this its even uglier when foreigners speak it broken
Levi Cruz
But it's really hard to learn. I hope soon I can speak it more properly... :(
I'm moving to Nijmegen next month, think it will be easier to learn the language
David Hernandez
Better than French desu
Wyatt Nelson
>it was a coincidence that France spent its time colonising useless Africans, the Spanish colonies never amounted to anything and the English built the best nations to grace this earth huh its almost like the english killed innocent people and replaced them with their own very perfidious if i do say so myself
Kayden Evans
wanneer het zover is wil ik je mooie accent wel horen
I bet the op recently arrived in France from some shit hole country. Comes here a day and tries taking over, fuck off Nigerian, go home
Camden Smith
WTF I love Belguim now.
Aaron Hall
en ik weet ook dat je braziliaans bent, dus dan wil ik sowieso niets sensueels
William Richardson
Try learning Japanese as a foreigner, it's the hardest shit possible. You think English is hard because your language is entirely different than most western languages but I guarantee you'd have just as many or even more problems with learning french or spanish. German might work a bit better, I don't know.
Jordan Jackson
Every foreigner I've spoken to about this subject has said that the lingua franca might as well be english because even though it's retarded in terms of both phonetics and vocabulary it's extremely accessible to almost everybody in the world and using other languages would require unnecessary effort My point is why fix something that isn't broken?
Easton Robinson
English is almost a 50-50 mix of germanic and romance language making it easy for germanic and romance speakers to grasp
