Morocco is a monarchy, but it's pretty liberal for a country where islam is the primary religion. Its cities also are very Western-like (save for the Medinas). And everyone speaks French.

When I was in Morocco I noticed portraits of the king literally everywhere, sometimes they were this weird meme-like collages like pic related, it reminded me of shitposts our former president Lech Wałęsa posted and reposted on Wykop. I was curious if those were made by the government, or people just wanted to have a picture of their king everywhere. I took this picture somewhere in the Fes medina.

overall I thought Morocco is an incredibly interesting country, would visit again.

there is something in morocco called "grima" a sort of welfare attributed by the king that enable you to get ~700e every month the more you're licking his boots, so people are giving a try or holders of the grima trying to get a second one. ( most likely )
