I'm not sure how to use epwing2anki. I've set it up and have an anki deck with the sample words, however when I add a new word theres no reading/definition/sentence. I assumed it would add it automatically but maybe i'm doing something wrong. The anki_import_file is imported btw.

I can see how newspaper-words might be boring to learn and suspending them might feel like the right choice but you will encounter these words some day anyway so why not learn them while you do 6k?
I don't either but you know what most of the politics bullshit means in english, why not get japanese terminology out of the way as well. Knowing those words and kanji also opens up new connections to other words, forming a net of political garbage that you can recognize by just looking at it even if you probably haven't seen it before.

Literally anything for vocabulary since I can barely read as it is. I'm still at the point where I'm glad if I recognize a bunch of vocabulary and I'm not totally lost in a sentence.
I try really hard and if I can't help it I look up stuff occasionally by hand. Also means it takes me forever.

You're going to be surprised how often these "boring" words will come up even in your cartoons.
Is it wrong to use anki as an actual spaced repetition tool? I have a deck of Jōyō kanji, with both sides of each card containing the on/kun, example, and a stroke order gif. I have the spacing set to 1 1 1 1 1, so I write it down 5 times, and I hit good every single time.
This should get the kanji into my muscle memory at least. I hope.

I'm sure this will have an effect of some sort. But Anki is mostly an efficiency tool. This doesn't seem more effective than setting a timer to copy out Kanji each day.

Why are you learning how to write kanji then
Writing and speaking are two sparsely interlinked skills so you will train both doing only one of them.

The only way I will remember what a kanji actually looks like is if I write it down. They I can visualise how I would write it.
With English I remember how I would type a word if I am trying to recall how to spell it, but obviously that doesn't cut it with kanji.

That's not how language words my friend. You can't just take some term and try to translate shit literally. People in the int generals tend to do this ironically from English to their native language but it's not how normal people speak, nor would they understand what is being said.

Not exactly, I want to finish it before I continue reading excessively again.
I finished my first VN after around 2-3k words and it was hard as fuck for me, I then noticed that like half the words I was mining were already in core so I really want to finish it now.

What do you guys use to practice production (specifically writing)?
I'm a pretty hands on learner and find that when programming the only way i actually learn the proglang is by writing practical code in it.
I looked at the genki exercise books but it's all kana soup that's kind of annoying to decipher.

Can you help me? I want to search for pictures from 70s or 80s Japan but the result is always limited. For example I wanna see how Yudanaka looked some decades ago. I search for "湯田中" + 前 or 歴史or 古い or 80年代. But it all doesn't show me old photos. I can't imagine that those pictures doesn't exist somewhere on the internet. Every Japanese had cameras during the time.

How many did you do daily for 6k?
I keep changing it but it went like this
100 for first day then 50 slowly going down to 20 as the mining deck was getting bigger in reviews, now they're both equal at 20 so together I got 40 reviews daily.

I'm baffled by the structures of these final clauses. The first sentence ends in no verb at all (???), the second ends in present tense, and the third has no main verb, only the copula used in a way I don't really understand. Is this a normal way of writing Japanese narratives? Is it common to completely elide the verbs of a sentence and mess with tense like this?
