How did the Italian economy get to its current state exactly?
How did the Italian economy get to its current state exactly?
It went downhill after they joined the euro area I think.
socialism
>noeconomytugal
you can implement socialist crap by printing fiat shitcoins ad infinitum
the euro has stopped that.
now you have a part of the country which is functional, and another part that doesn't have an economy, just state money.
started before, but it takes a while for an avalanche to become noticeable
also wait to see the effects of reddito di cittadinanza, portugal will look like a little baby
eu market helped us too, that much is undeniable, the good old "print money" meme works until a certain point and for specific countries
This country is a bad joke.
Fixed
t. tony ricci
because he euro was studied to stop the italian economy.
here comes the idiot
>muh conspiracy
there's plenty of businnesses who are just fine, gtfo
and if one day italy would exit the euro to keep doing successful biz would just use the USD and the euro, by moving their HQ to less idiotic countries.
thread\
printing money works, look at this
Why is Portugal anticonformist on every fucking map ?
Inflated currency
Half the country is third world tier
did that one potato finally grow up?
Maciek ale z lekcji angielskiego w szkole to ty nie uciekaj.
Jeszcze raz spróbuj, tym razem poprawnie.
kek I remember when Euro became their money in 2002 all the price doubled. They aren't really good with computer also (despite having Olivetti once). And Germany and France don't seem to consider them "at their level"
By spending more than they earn and increasing taxation rather than cutting expenditure, leading to ever more regulation and government intervention that fucks over the entire economy. The economic north-south split in Europe is purely and solely an affair of greater or lesser degrees of deregulation.
Because Italy isn't "at their level". At all. The EU had to effectively force them to not go over their deficit even further. Though to be fair if Macron fails (and all signs point to him failing), France gets closer to being like Italy.
pa jak się unosi, zakompleksiony wieśniak. xD Nie chciało mi się szukać a "maturate" brzmiało jakoś nie na miejscu
Yeah but they could be the big 3 with Italy being the third. And Italy government did that bullshit just to prove they don't blindly obey Bruxelles. It was all a bluff kek
what's going on in the uk?
maybe it works for ((economy)) but it's basically robbing the citizens
let's think, one year you have 100,000 liras and they're worth 1000 EUR. The next year, due to inflation, the same 100,000 liras are worth only 800 EUR, another year it's only 600 EUR etc., so every year you can buy less for the same money (especially imported goods)
Yeah, the economy gets more competitive, but only because the local population was robbed
I wonder what the British people feel when Ireland they despise so much is already richer than them.
It doesn't work like that.
It's a meme. They have very low corporate taxes so a lot of companies' HQs are there
correct. i can finally my secondary school Geography knowlage can be put to some use.
The mezzogiorno region has awful farming, little industry and crime corruption is still there. the only thing keeping them going is tourism
companies' HQs bring well paid jobs to the country, how is this even bad?
I knew it was bad but damn. What do people north of Napoli think of Southerners ?
I don't believe the south is that poor. Would they be willing to work for 500 eur like many Eastern Europeans do? I doubt.
It's just for tax avoidance, so they're there only "on paper", with little operatives I imagine
For example Apple's European HQ is in Ireland iirc
It goes from friendly-ish banter to genocidal hate
Italy doctored with it's accounts for a long time since joining the eu and their debts are foreign unlike japanese. They are worse than greece cause they could really hurt the whole EU
The 17,4% of the population can't have an adequate lunch at least once every 2 days so it's not hard to believe
but salaries in Ireland are high, much higher than in southern Europe and pretty much on par, if not higher than average for western Europe
they don't want to work, the ones who do come to the north
all the south is hidden economy and as long as they have food they will adapt somehow
>The 17,4% of the population can't have an adequate lunch at least once every 2 days so it's not hard to believe
that must include refugees or sth
really, southern Italy doesn't look as bad as you say, it does have some grim or ugly places but overall it doesn't look very poor
Really, all current european countries are somewhat socialist
There are no refugees and little immigrants in southern Italy, why would they live there if it's basically the same shithole they moved from?
>Finnish economy growing faster than Swedish economy
Unlikely.
I can see southern Italy has the same tax laws like Greece - you don't have to pay property tax as long as your home appears "unfinished"
more room for growth when you're absolute dogshit. all the other countries of the butthurt belt seem to be growing as well.
t. phd in economics
dunno about that honestly, the pityful look on neighbours wouldnt allow such a thing where i live
At least they're relatively cheap, so (low value added) economic activity naturally gravitates towards them.
Finland manages to be both expensive and poor.
this town is deemed the poorest one in all of Italy
newsweek.com
that's one eponymous town's name btw
This can only laught at Poles celebrating their 10% growth rates sponsored by the EU
Really makes you think
>Finland is poor
bloody westerners you don't know what poverty is
try to survive a month for 500 euros then we'll talk
Euro is the national money of Germany, it is too strong for your country, especially the southern part
don't worry, our poorest towns are still much worse than anything you could find in Italy
that's about the amount of neetbux you normally get for living (after rent) so I'm sure there's a lot of finns here who know that feel. add to that the much higher prices over here and it's not that great.
maybe change the windows but it doesnt seem that bad honestly
Yeah but the South wasn't under a communist dictatorship for the better part of the last 80 years
Also got like 10 times the gibs you get from the EU
Not only "on paper" but close to it. All the tech companies set up shop there because when they negotiated with the tax authorities one of the conditions was that they do employ well paid people in their offices in exchange for freely using the loopholes to shift profits towards offshore places like Bermuda and pay practically 0% tax (or something entirely minimal) in Ireland itself while getting access to the complete EU market.
Needless to say, this deprives other member states from tax revenue.
>genocidal hate
across the adriatic it goes from that straight to actual genocide and those are the only two modes that are shifted between by the inhabitants of the area
In Germany neetbucks is 420€ + free rent and electricity
>that's about the amount of neetbux you normally get for living (after rent)
here that's what you make a month if you work a normal job
it was under the oppressive and backward Spanish government, then under fascists.
we flooded them with gibs during our economic boom and this continues right fucking now, still a shithole
>Needless to say, this deprives other member states from tax revenue.
Europe should ban Apple then and we should buy only quality German phones instead
oh wait
my rent is 4 times your wage wtf
Not like Apple can lose the European market though
>In Germany neetbucks is 420€ + free rent and electricity
Lol, that's only 30€ higher than here, but without the free rent and electricity part. Though most of NEETs here live with parents anyway, so they got that covered.
it's not my wage but a lot of people get something like that
the gap between western and eastern Europe is still extremely big
did you try to create proper business conditions instead of simply pumping money there? the latter never works, even with "better" people, like Germans, where eastern Germany is still much poorer than the western part
>Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime
Yes they should, if they don't want to pay even a low 12,5% tax.
all business end up with mafia infestation and all sorts of scandals about polluting environment and whatnot, you would have to enslave them and send norths to rule them, but i doubt they would accept that sort of thing (and i dont really blame them for it)
they should honestly focus on what they do well, primary and tertiary sectors, while leaving the industry to the north
it's hard to make a proper gibs that has no chances of being exploited, because if you are too strict it will go unused, the main point is that there's always trash people at leading roles, for most
>the gap between western and eastern Europe is still extremely big
possibly but it was even bigger in the 1980s
>the EU bans Apple
>Macedonians make profit from smuggling iphones to the EU
smart
yes, but we expected us to catch up with the west faster
>we expected us to catch up with the west faster
you're on your way
poland is doing good in regards to that
Why so low? is like 2000$ here
our GDP might grow pretty fast but our salaries don't
Inflation is taxation.
stop posting
I'm not saying it's bad.
high gdp is likely a precondition to high wages
what's going on in the uk
Just why is Slovakia able to pull such a growth year after year? Then again I guess its politicians are just not as corrupt as ours.
are you living under a rock? Brexit is expected in march...
well, didn't we discuss Ireland before?
some countries have relatively low wages comparing to GDP per capita for some reason
they attract a lot of investments in the automotive industry
it's just because they're closer to Germany than Bulgaria
Bulgaria should focus on export to Turkey instead.
oh god
its going to be so much fun watching britain burn
top quality entertainment m8
>And the convergence with wages in Germany—its immediate neighbor to the west and an important destination for its workers—is occurring only slowly; productivity growth and real wages tracked each other significantly more in Germany than in Poland. For instance, between 2000 and 2016, Polish labor productivity (the output of goods and services per hour worked) grew by about 51 percent, but compensation for workers grew only 33 percent.
>Yeah but they could be the big 3 with Italy being the third.
They could if they were even halfway interested in running a decent economy. Same with France. Why did the EU move away from the Franco-German axis towards being the Fourth Reich? Because France can't live to its own desire for grandeur, it simply does not have the economic might to force its will in Germany. Why? Overregulation and excessive spending.
This is why inflation is called taxation without representation.
it doesn't matter
poland should be happy and grateful to be given this wonderful opportunity
especially after it suffered under communist oppression for decades
>Oppression
So the natural form of government for poles
>some countries have relatively low wages comparing to GDP per capita for some reason
>bring milions of ukies
>wages are growing even slower than before
>more poles leaving poland
>bring even more ukies
really makes you think.
Germans are in no position to flex, considering the only time they were ever free was when the Entente forced liberty down their throats. Twice. Three times if you include East Germany. And already your government is trying to use social media to restrict the liberties of its people.
they should remember 1981 and realize that today's times are a gift
Northern Italy should be independent.
Based
Slovenes should remember that in Yugoslavia they lived better than now because they were a privileged entity that got all of the industry built with Belgrade's money.
>with little operatives I imagine
These companies employ many people, that's the whole point of them being here. I worked in one myself and it had the most offices in the business park
wrong till 1871 we even had free cities like Hamburg or Cologne i dont think anyone but switzerland had as much freedom back then
you obviously don't know what you're talking about
slovenia accounted for about a third of entire yugoslav gdp alone despite it's population not even being the tenth of yugoslavia
>slovenia accounted for about a third of entire yugoslav gdp alone
I agree, because Tito decided to locate most of the Yugoslav industry in Slovenia, as it was closer to the west.
Tito was based as fuck he probably knew fellow croats and muslims would chimp out eventually
but Slovenes did it first actually
sure
it certainly had nothing to do with slovenes and their economic output
just look where is slovenia now and where is serbia, who was the main republic in yugoslavia
no yugoslavia was already a sinking ship at the time slovenia left
Lol i wondededed this too, like low obesity, low abortion rate, high divorce rate so people say slimtugal, divorcetugal etc
The greenest part is called South Tyrol and it was stolen from Austria
>it certainly had nothing to do with slovenes and their economic output
it didn't, Gorenje or Krka could have been established somewhere in Smederevo or Tetovo as well, that was just a political choice.
>just look where is slovenia now and where is serbia, who was the main republic in yugoslavia
Thank Tito for that. Also Serbs, because they simply retreated from Slovenia instead of fighting to the last man destroying half of the country, like they did in Croatia or Bosnia.
