I was reading Flying Witch and the sentence was "またいとこにあたる親戚だ"
So "またいとこ" means "second cousin" and "親戚" means "relative". What about "にあたる"
It's に当たる.
This 当たる is the very last definition (number 19) in the EDICT entry: "to be a relative of a person; to stand in a relationship."
He is a relative who amounts to a second cousin.
Essentially, it's just "he is my second cousin."
Seems redundant to mention they're a relative twice.

The last sentence is grammaticaly correct, indeed. However, as you are writing in polite form(丁寧語, yeah, quite a great job!), I added "のです" to keep consistency.

The grammar is easy to pick up because it's like legos and there are only three irregular verbs. It's the memorization of the moon runes and their different pronunciation based on context that makes it harder for us alphabet using people to learn it.
In a way learning Kanji and vocab is getting easier over time for me. It's almost automatic. Grammar is starting to become my weak point and I should probably focus on it more.
