>Every year, thousands of penguins become stranded on South America's coast - with females three times more likely to wash up dead or injured than males.
>Recent studies by researchers from Japan and Argentina now paint a harrowing picture, as male penguins - particularly those denied partners during peak mating seasons earlier in the year - have been observed working in concert with one another to exact violent reprisals on females within the population that have already chosen mates.
>This maladaptive behavior is perplexing conservation experts, who fear they may have far-reaching consequences on the species as a whole.

Same with all animals. I saw a documentary of a gorilla named Koko who was taught sign language and understood spoken English. They showed her videos of male gorillas from other zoos and told her to choose which one she liked. They all looked the same but some gorillas she'd kiss the screen and others she'd shake her head saying No Way!

Thats fake tho. They are dying because of pollution and unpredictable currents. The reason why females are more likely to die is because they migrate farter north along the shallow water to find food while males just dive deeper in search of food.
