I am :)

居りませーん

how do you reply someone when they say
お目にかかてします (Nice to meet you)
You want to say
Nice to meet you too.
But is it like this?

Is there any way to add only definitions from one directory with Yomichan?

no

私は波人が恋しがる
Is 恋しがる is stative? Is 波人 correct, or is ポーランド人 useable?

isthere a better word than フルーツ when offering a platter of fruit to someone?

果物

Not sure, but maybe 木の実 or 果物

Anyone have a book recommendation? I just finished Kitchen by Yoshimoto Banana, so something around that level would be nice.

電気あんま

聖書

お前なめてんのか

レッツマスター敬語

Attached: salpin32.jpg (1252x945, 566K)

what is snk

>私は波人が恋しがる
It hardly makes sense at the first glance even for us.
However, it'd be interpreted in two ways.

1. A poetic manner
In poetries, punctuations are often omitted.
So the sentense could be parsed as
>私は波。人が恋しがる。
>I am a wave, which people long for.

2.A proper noun.
"波人" could be regarded as a name of a man, thereby
>私は波人(なみと)が恋しがる
>Namito longs for me.
>however, it sounds quite awkward, unless it's a part of a sentence, like
>私は波人(なみと)が恋しがる女
>I am the girl who Namito longs for.

乞われた折にはお応えになられるのもまた宜しかろうとは存じますが、如何

Attached: man.jpg (406x406, 31K)

oh,i mean sao

You aren't speaking Chinese, of course you need to use ポーランド人

>フルーツ
That's the most prevailing word today, though..
And
>果物
as well.
There is an archaic word
>水菓子
but hardly used so often these days.

Attached: fruit.jpg (480x360, 38K)

>There is an archaic word
would most people know it

>お目にかかてします
It's incorrect, should be
>お目にかかって嬉しいです
And as for the reply, it would be like
>こちらこそ
>just the same for me

Yes, and you may come across it in those VNs and so on so often.

>波人
>人 of 波蘭
Sorry, I just hadn't come up with that idea..
and
>恋しがる
a dynamic, maybe. and
>私はポーランド人を恋しがる

>その日の時計の針は、まるで世界の終わりの日のようにゆっくりと、気を持たせて時を刻んだ。
What is the writer trying to say with 気を持たせて? "to raise expections" doesn't seem to fit here.

>On that day, the hands of the clock went so slowly, raising expectations, as if it's the doomsday of the world.

raising expectations usually carries a positive connotation. does the same not apply to 気を持たせる?

Pretty sure this comboes with anything written before it.

Attached: 5d977acea7245b42cdd6034a0251482b.png (328x130, 7K)

>usually carries a positive connotation
Sorry. Forgive my incompetent English.
And 気を持たせる usually means as said, especially in a manner involving flirtings.
However, that sentence sounded just natural for me, maybe because I regarded it as
>(waiting for the girl or something,) the hands of the clock went so fuckin slowly as if it's the doomsday of the world.

ちょっと草ったかもしれませんと思います

>In the doomsday
>clocks go so slowly because "bad end" is coming
Oh.. from this point of view, it's certainly a bad simile.

Is "コメント返すよ" simply "I'll comment back"? It's a title of a video where the person is answering questions from Marshmallow.

For the question, it’s just as you guessed.
But now I am seriously eager to know what
>from Marshmallow
actually is.

Thanks!

Marshmallow is marshmallow-qa.com, it's a popular site for accepting anonymous questions. Twitter and youtube personalities use it a lot as an anonymous question box.

元々アオイ科のウスベニタチアオイの根を古代エジプトの王族がすりつぶしてのど薬として使っていたのを19世紀フランスの菓子職人が粘り気のある植物エキスに砂糖を加えることで菓子として完成させそれが19世紀後半には植物エキスがゼラチンと泡立てた卵白の粘りで代用されまた粉がまぶされるようになって現在とほぼ同様の製法と形状に変化したソフトキャンディーの一種のことでしょ。

This can't be. No IME can be so bad to fuck up something as basic as the time.

Actually on further inspection, buried deep inside the word list you can tab through, there is a 2 o'clock emoji.

気を持たせて時を刻んだ
何で気を持たせて こち passage of time?
raise expectation 時を刻んだんだ?

YOMICHAN

>まるで(in a way as if)世界の終わりの日(the doomsday)のように(it is like)ゆっくりと(slowly)、
>気を持たせて(raising expectations)時を刻んだ(it ticked)。
and what did you intend in
>こち
?

「何で気を持たせて」こっちの部分はpassage of time?
raise expectationの部分 は「時を刻んだ」んだ?
あほくさ

こち mean "this" or "that" right?

Here

This but unironically

>なんで「気を持たせて」(こっち)の部分はpassage of timeで、
>raise expectationの部分 は「時を刻んだ」んだ?
>why the 「気を持たせて」modifies passage of time while "raise expectation" is mentioning 「時を刻んだ」or like that?
>passage of time = 「時を刻んだ」
>あほくさ
Don't be rude.
>こ"っ"ち:here
>This:これ
>That:あれ

AHOKUSA

>気を持たせて
in other words, "じらせながら" in this case.
dictionary.goo.ne.jp/jn/112239/meaning/m0u/
it could be a bad and good connotation depends on the context. there is no clue to figure it out which its good or bad one, only with the sentences.

>時を刻む
is an expression that literally means "to engrave the each point of time" , because of "to engrave the each point" the action of hands of clock seems slowly for the observer who probably find it impatient.

Is duolingo cheating?

You're cheating yourself from ever learning Japanese.

Attached: 1546459754611.jpg (521x827, 69K)

Thanks friend, stay well.
Any progress is better than none, we all slow down sometimes.
Of course not, when I think of cheating I think of getting more for less, and that doesn't sound like duolingo to me :)

Yeah I can tell I'm not actually learning, just being conditioned to get answers right. I feel like a labratory chimpanzee.

>Is not learning cheating

いえ

It doesn't need to be this way. Everything you need it in the op and free. The rest is just being persistent.

My brain shuts off when Taekim tries to tell me the difference between do doing done and donen't

Definitely in a plateau, which is a hard feeling

Doing ANKI every day, trying to get motivated to read but having trouble finding interesting content since I'm a weeb and the djt guide's manga library got taken down.
