>私は波人が恋しがる It hardly makes sense at the first glance even for us. However, it'd be interpreted in two ways.
1. A poetic manner In poetries, punctuations are often omitted. So the sentense could be parsed as >私は波。人が恋しがる。 >I am a wave, which people long for.
2.A proper noun. "波人" could be regarded as a name of a man, thereby >私は波人(なみと)が恋しがる >Namito longs for me. >however, it sounds quite awkward, unless it's a part of a sentence, like >私は波人(なみと)が恋しがる女 >I am the girl who Namito longs for.
>usually carries a positive connotation Sorry. Forgive my incompetent English. And 気を持たせる usually means as said, especially in a manner involving flirtings. However, that sentence sounded just natural for me, maybe because I regarded it as >(waiting for the girl or something,) the hands of the clock went so fuckin slowly as if it's the doomsday of the world.

>In the doomsday >clocks go so slowly because "bad end" is coming Oh.. from this point of view, it's certainly a bad simile.

>なんで「気を持たせて」(こっち)の部分はpassage of timeで、 >raise expectationの部分 は「時を刻んだ」んだ? >why the 「気を持たせて」modifies passage of time while "raise expectation" is mentioning 「時を刻んだ」or like that? >passage of time = 「時を刻んだ」 >あほくさ Don't be rude. >こ"っ"ち:here >This:これ >That:あれ
>気を持たせて in other words, "じらせながら" in this case. dictionary.goo.ne.jp/jn/112239/meaning/m0u/ it could be a bad and good connotation depends on the context. there is no clue to figure it out which its good or bad one, only with the sentences.
>時を刻む is an expression that literally means "to engrave the each point of time" , because of "to engrave the each point" the action of hands of clock seems slowly for the observer who probably find it impatient.

Thanks friend, stay well. Any progress is better than none, we all slow down sometimes. Of course not, when I think of cheating I think of getting more for less, and that doesn't sound like duolingo to me :)
Aaron Rodriguez
Yeah I can tell I'm not actually learning, just being conditioned to get answers right. I feel like a labratory chimpanzee.

>Is not learning cheating

It doesn't need to be this way. Everything you need it in the op and free. The rest is just being persistent.

I'm actually a brainlet, I can't learn Japanese because I don't know the difference between nouns and verbs, tenses and all of that other complicated stuff. My brain shuts off when Taekim tries to tell me the difference between do doing done and donen't
