Survived? They are a Romance-Slavic mixture. Their language contains a shitton of slavicism even though it was severely re-Romanced in 19th century because of nationalism.
It didn't. The culture is Slavic, a century ago they wrote with Cyrillic and are Eastern-rite Orthodox like the Russians. The language is sorta Latin based but there are a shitton of Turkish words in it too and the DNA pool is a clusterfuck of 6 different haplogroups.
Why are we half turks? We were never invaded by turkey.
We built a wall.
>re-Romanced
>adding new words that you need in you language because lots of domains evolved and choosing to adopt them from the languages that invented them instead of creating your own like the Germans or Hungarians did.
Yeah, I can understand any Romanian writings older than that I only need to convert from Romanian Cyrillic to Latin alphabet.
And yes we took words from others but others took words from us too
>"Vocabularium", of Samuel Gyarmathi, published in 1816 at Viena, who mention the presence of some romanian words in hungarian language, Szinney Jozsef ( another hungarian scholar ), between 1893 and 1901, in a regionalism dictionary mention 340 romanian words in magyar language, and, in 1942, Geza Bledy, in his work, "Influence of romanian language over magyar language-lexicography study" registrated almost 600 romanian words in maghyar language.
>But most important study is "The history of maghyar words from romanian origin", or "Amaghyar szokeszlet Roman elemeinek tortenete" of Bakos Ferenc, profesor at University from Budapest, study from 1982, published by Academy editure in Budapesta,it mentions over 2000 romanian words.
Inter-breeding. Our words for love, girlfriend, and friendship are slavic. Through dick, unity.
>the DNA pool is a clusterfuck of 6 different haplogroups.
Not really, and haplogroups aren't a good way to measure genetics. Generally we're majorly paleo-balkanic/carpatic.
>Inter-breeding. Our words for love, girlfriend, and friendship are slavic. Through dick, unity.
Also the word for war - razboi.
Oh yes we were.

Southern Italy was invaded and settled by Greeks in antiquity, as well as various Muslim groups later on
I shit on your armchair science.
And the word for vagina and whore - pizdă and curvă
>>I shit on your armchair science.
>Posts haplogroups
There's some irony here
>Jow Forums
>Harvard and Cambridge
Sounds like you guys are a virgins.
>wrote with Cyrillic
Romanian Cyrillic
Ꙟʌ вє́дє áзй, ꙟʌ вє́дє мѫ́ни,
Ácтфєʌ дopи́нцa-й гáтa;
Єʌ ѩ́p, пpиви́нд дє cъптъмѫ́нй,
Ꙟй кáдє дpáгъ фáтa
Unironicaly beautiful.
We should have never force you to switch to Latin. Sorry.
For every word you reffed to we have like minimum 5 synonyms.
Using one or another word more frequently and in those cases being words of Slavic origin depends on a lot of factors.
Musicality could be an important one I think, seeing how we start to use some English words because it sounds better
>seeing how we start to use some English words because it sounds better
I wish that wasn't the case. Hearing english words in spoken romanian just sounds wrong.
It wasn't you. The pope tried to convert us to Catholicism through using latin alphabet and saying we wuz romans, while greek and bulgarian priests, who had more influence in the courts of Wallachia and Moldova, made us use cyrillic to keep us orthodox.
Bag pula-n măta.
But Transylvanian Romanian priests started to use Latin, because of us. We are sorry.
Ez!
Quality thread
I know, you were doing the pope's bidding. Since Charles Robert ascended to the throne of Hungary, the relationship between our people soured because he was an Anjou, and thus a papist obsessed with increasing the pope's influence and converting people to catholicism, which Hungary kept trying to do after he died.
Transylvanians are confirmed Romans
>ruthenian
I really like Romania. I think they are doing quite well now and I hope they will be doing even better in the future.
>I think they are doing quite well
Someone tell him.
You are weirdly well-read about this obscure subject, really nice to see.
They had national identity strong enough to resist assimilation into slavs and porbably instead assimilated slavs into Romanians. With few exceptions (Bohemia, previously finnic parts of Russia) slavs didn’t come as conquerors but as peaceful settlers and merchants who had, for the time and region, revolutionary farming techniques and were allied to then powerful Avar Khaganate, which allowed them to outbreed and replace natives in many places.
Slavic "invasion" really was mostly like European invasion of North America, except less violent.
sure Svejk ;^)
...and thanks to 19th century romanticism, people now see mostly peaceful early slavs as a horde of marauding orcs.
We hope so too, brother, we hope so too.
