I am moving to Vancouver and I am wondering how much rent money should I save before I leave to get there? Also, once I arrive, how quickly can I find a whatever job to pay for rent? I would then subsequently search for a higher wage job.

You better start learning Mandarin boy.
lol
sell your kidney, first born and mother. unless you are chinese, then just make an under the table deal with the landlord
are all the landlords asian, idc if they are
even if you get roommates it can be $1000 for rent, then you have damage deposit and having to pay first month
if you're a dude and willing to work construction you can get $15 starting, but it's hard work
otherwise maybe around $12 at a grocery store
if money is an issue, don't move there
This looks like a chinese city
thanks but i asked how much money should i move over with in the bank for safety, i more than likely will get roommates
>how quickly can I find a whatever job to pay for rent?
If you know mandarin, you can get a job day1, you should consider learning it if you plan on living in van for a long time.
There are a lot of asians but it's not 100% asian, there are three parts to the city.
1. Rich and Old people
2. Asians
3. Druggies
I'd want at least 3 or 4 grand
vancouver.craigslist.org
it's pretty depressing
where are you moving from? why vancouver?
crazy looking city
Vancouver needs more diversity if we want it to be english speaking. We need more Punjabis there that way the Asians will be forced to speak English since the Punjabis are not going to learn Mandarin.
Imo this is how diversity works so well here in Toronto. There are lots of different ethnicities but everybody speaks fluent english and all signs are in English(or worst case, in a Foreign Language AND English) since there is no one ethnicity that dominates. Everybody is forced to speak English all the time.
there was a time where it was about half towers and still had a bunch of small houses
I bet Vancouver was a great city in the 80's and 90's before the Chinese insects ruined it.
it was
how CHINK'd is vancouver? 20%?
thats not too bad, yea do you know any sites where i can find rent with roomates, i dont mind living with students or in a student area, i just want to be close to jobs, i live a minimalist lifestyle
why do indians assimilate so well in comparison to other ethnic groups
>vancouver.craigslist.org
why is that depressing though? as long as it is clean and insulated from cold, i dont mind it, im just gunna sleep, shit and watch movies in it, im gunna walk outside most of the time, im not a lavish lifestyle guy, i live bare minimum, i go to the cinema as entertainment solely
28%.
It's also rife with Triads smuggling Fentanyl into the Americas.
I don't understand why the rest of Canada likes to point at Toronto and say we're shit when Vancouver is literally a soulless drug addled playground for the Chinese and the rich and pumping the rest of the country with the current drug of choice.
out of the choices on that page, what in your opinion looks best, im not savy with this shit but vancouver is interesting, what of those rooms in your opinion seems the highest of quality
>We need more Punjabis
No we don't faggot.
how long will these landlords wait for someone to travel to them from another province?
you cant apply remotely
every single posting gets dozens of replies
...
oh fuck so, you cant secure a residence from another prvince? like they wont wait for you? cuz sometimes i hear them say, i will wait a month or some shit
save about 10k, then send it to a stranger. later.

hunh?
Just cut a few lawns user, you'll be fine.
What does vancouver has other canadian cities don't
warm weather. victoria does too but it is disconnected from the mainland.
A larger opportunity for anyone in tech, more start ups, more vfx industry, more gaming industry. Toronto is a smaller extent of all of that and outside those 2 there is barely anything for those jobs
It's a bad country to live in for tech, we're too consolidated towards 3 cities. You leave the handful of biggest of major cities and there is ZERO job opportunities of those industries.
>Seattle-like living costs
>half of the Seattle tech salary
Vancouver really is a terrible place to be for tech
doesn't snow
nice scenery
toronto is the only other city that attracts more immigrants
housing prices go up 10% every year so people think it's a good idea to take out a massive mortgage
That general area of the PNW is really beautiful and the weather is mild.
meme weather that's actually shit once you live there, a lot of chinese people and really expensive housing, all around a shit place to be desu.
Vancouver's "tech" scene is a joke. Most employees at the big tech companies are foreign workers who couldn't get a US work visa but the company wanted anyways. While the most talented of the Vancouver crop end up moving to Silicon Valley.
Toronto has a good financial services industry - nothing like New York - but a self-sustaining industry with a lot of expertise. Vancouver has no industry whatsoever.
So you're "moving" there, but you don't have a place to stay, and you don't have a job there? Are you just going to become homeless?
how do i get a job and how much should i save in rent money user, help me, my family is kicking me out
op sounds a little clueless, like
is not an answer when you have other people offering you 1000 leafbucks/750usd for a room, they wont leave it
can you say where you live right now?
i'll give you good advice if you answer that
okay most minimum of estimates? 2000-4000. a minimum wage job in vancouver is easy af to get.
>Wants to move there
>No Job
>No Money
>No Plan
Is this you deciding that you are never going to suffer through another -30C blizzard like this most recent one in Toronto by moving to Vancouver?
toronto, fuck this place, dont ask, i set my mind on vanc
are you forreal bud? please dont fuck with me, how do i get these roomate houses in advance when user earier said they wont give it to me if im away, how do i get a place to stay till i find a residence..are you from vancouver?
fuck the blizzard but also my family is kicking me out
if you got 2k in the bank you can airbnb yourself until you can find a place on craiglist.
how much do airbnb costs average, thanks man, ur nice
dude, you making me feel like im your mom. you can check it out yourself. airbnb.com you can get places for like 50 bucks a night and lower.
fug that shit adds up, im sorry, last question, how long would you think it would take me to find a place with roomates?
craigslist.com unless you are absolutely repulsive and smell like shit, it shouldn't be too hard.
like i said dude, 2k is like the absolute minimum i would recommend if you are fast on your feet. a comfortable amount of money would be like 4k-6k
so like a couple days?
thanks bud i appreciate it
like i said dude, a lot of it is based on how you present yourself as a roommate. if you are a shithead that smells bad and otherwise a social retard. it's going to take your a while. if you normal af, it shouldn't take you too long to find a roommate for less then 1k a month.
Looking at that from far away, it really looks like an infection. Like a cluster of ticks or a mange on a dog.
That city is a blight on this earth.
are you from Vancouver by chance?
i live here yeah.
oh nice what u pay for rent, ill answer tomrro im going to bed
im a filthy landlord and i make 2300 a month renting out a suite.
oh nice, well i aprreciate ur help man, truly, god bless, see u soon
