ours - whose? yeah I generally advocate for the lack of borders (it's a matter of deeper discussion and sorry for tackling it) as borders are fickle and political and you could say the same about the people and what nationality means. Even the names of the Romanians hint to different etymologies and people look from north baltic to anatolian. our country was never ours because Romanians were always devoid of any identity and tapped into the influence of the ruling power.
on a side note, this centralising from Bucharest being in progress from 1859 onwards is really unnatural. I feel closer to a ruthenian from Chernivtsi than a Romanian from Timișoara where they all look like serbocroatians genetically.
call me out and be presumptuous all the way if you don't want to refute the main point, but what I mean is that despite the linguistic similarities our country has been forcefully tied together by weaving into regions of different culture. This country is the patchwork result of 19th century nationalism which kept underscoring the fact that we have a different language amongst all these slavic-speaking peoples. But between Transylvania and Moldavia the situation is similar as between Czechia and Slovakia.

because the slavs who settled here (mind you, north macedonia, Serbia or Bulgaria are less Slavic than Romania genetically wise) borrowed some of the language of the mountain dwelling vlachs. This makes Romanian a slightly different Slavic language and not a romance one because the Rumînian language and its dialects have been defaced by the neolatin influence (french and Italian), while its Slavic words have been put aside in order to be replaced by Latin ones, and all of this happened as a result of the rise of nationalism all over Europe - we sought for a grander identity ourselves.
in poetry Slavic words will always sound better. Slavonic Rumînian sounds poetic, unique and mesmerising unlike this false language we have to speak now.
