I didn't read their diaries, sorry. But i heard about them in Polish media. The same scheme like Anne Frank. Little Polish girls of Jewish roots were making diaries before WW2 and during it to the tragic end, when the last entry was also last day of their lives because they were killed by Germans. The only reason for which only Poles remember them is that they were writing their diaries in Polish language and because they were less "lucky" than Anne Frank so they didn't become global superstars post-mortem.

Poland is an open wound, it is different reality than countries where Holocaust didn't happen or happened to much smaller degree. There is thousands things reminding us of it, people (who are still alive but less and less of them every year), places, national holidays, movies, songs, poetry, books, testimonies, death camps which are also mass graves. Holocaust is an integral part of our culture, history, nation and country, it is irremovable. Meanwhile in the West Holocaust is just a hollywood story about the 6 million dead bodies and Anne Frank. Holocaust has similar status here like it does in Israel.

Poles are not assblasted by using this phrase alone, but because they truly believe that it is a part of global conspiracy whose aim is to whitewash German responsibility for the Holocaust. For the same reason, only here in Poland people are mad when they read some press article and writer uses word "nazis" instead of "Germans", Poles consider it as historical revisionism and well-planned German-funded action of rewriting history, that's why journalists in Poland are obliged to use word "German nazis" everytime they use word "nazis" because "nazis" weren't aliens from outer space: national socialists were German and only German.
Poles are also very angry when somebody suggests that some of them might be killing Jews during occupation or collaborating with Germans against Jews, although it was probably true to some degree, at least to various historians. And this kind of self-sensitivity puts us in direct conflict with Jews. Poles simply don't want to be associated with some criminal minority that maybe existed, maybe not, and they feel physical pain when somebody accuses them of killing Jews.
