I'd take this with a grain of salt. Specially for Brazil. Our lower class is the product of ~400 years of slavery. The social construction behind our lower class isn't about education or future reasoning, but manual labor and the now. The middle-class, the ~overseer~ class is probably on equal terms to europeans, even considering racial differences. I have a study here that found out more on the issue. University students in Brazil ( not even talking about top dogs) are on par with developed country university students.

Brushing what off? No one contends that the high performance of the Indian diaspora in USA is somehow fraudulent or artifactual. Rather, the argument is that at least some of the overrepresentation is due to the selection imposed by the immigration regime. The same pattern is observed in many diaspora populations.
It goes beyond race. I'm talking about a social class, not racial class. Here in Brazil we have an anti-popular pact of the elites and middle-class (that's why I called the middle-class the "overseer" class, they are the representation of the foremen from the plantations, but now operating for the capital) against the lower classes, who are but in name, socially constructed sub-humans.
