Is the lang discord as dead and /lang/?

Come and see :3

>unter Freunden
sind generell größtenteils synonym, das hat nichts mit der bezugsperson zu tun

No, but shitposting there is understandable, whereas here I'm not too excited about the rapidly declining quality of content for the sake of keeping it alive i.e. going down the slippery slope of all Jow Forums generals
but that's just mij twee gulden

als je moet echt blogposten dan is het prima maar alsjeblieft blogpost in je doeltaal zo dat je minstens iets leert

bijna niemand leert wat van de discord oetz, het is maar om online vrienden te hebben en over Jow Forums dingen te praten

so write a fucking challenge instead of complaining about the thread
challenges keep people working and learning instead of shitposting

GET TO WORK

easy

I am reading the book.
Who is that girl?
Yesterday I sold the old computer.
The new table is white.
I like going to the park with my dog.

A bit harder

Go to the shop and buy me three bottles of water.
There is no money left in this room.
Despite the bad weather, everything continued as normal.
I need to travel to [city in your lang's cunt] but all the trains are delayed - can you take me there?
He knew that they had just crossed the Rubicon. (try to use one of your lang's corresponding idiomatic expressions)

Hard

At least half of the town was already burnt down before the fire was finally subdued.
There was never any doubt in his mind that he had held the moral high-ground.
Three hours had passed before I finally worked up the courage to approach her.
He realised too late that the substance was not what he had been told that it was: it was something much, much stronger.
I have a bad feeling that the inner workings of the organisation are permanently shrouded by layers of impenetrable bureaucracy.

which lang are you learning?

Don't derail the thread

>Leggo il libro
More precisely, "Sto leggendo il libro".
>moneta
It means "coin". Money is "denaro" or "soldi" (this one is a plural noun).
>Non c'è
This is just "There isn't". If you want to say "There's no money left", "Non è rimasto denaro/Non sono rimasti soldi".
>viaggiare
This really isn't used in the sense of "traveling towards a destination" (and "viaggiare a Milano" sounds like you're "traveling inside the city"). "Partire per Milano" fits better.
>puoi mi li portare?
Mi puoi portare lì?
>avevano traverato la Rubicone
Avevano appena attraversato il Rubicone.

>In hoc cubiculo nulla pecunia est.
>Etsi aer malus fuit, omnia perrexit ut solet.
>Romam ire debeo, sed servii mei, qui lecticam meam portant, absunt! O, boni dii! (I have to go to Rome, but my slaves, who carry my litter, are away! O, good gods!)

African American Vernacular English?

No it didn't have the words African American in it. At least, I didn't think so

You know how black people will say
> He be working
And we think it means
> He is working

It doesn't mean that, it means
> He has a job, but he is not necessarily at work right now. He might be home
This is called the "habitual be" and it only exists in this dialect of English

African American ethnolect?

Nope, it's definitely AAVE.

thanks whistleblower Swede, telling pepo they is exposed to uranium

> In a rogue email sent to all Park Service employees on Feb. 4, Elston "Swede" Stephenson — the safety, health and wellness manager — described the alleged cover-up as "a top management failure" and warned of possible health consequences.

> "If you were in the Museum Collections Building (2C) between the year 2000 and June 18, 2018, you were 'exposed' to uranium by OSHA's definition," Stephenson wrote. "The radiation readings, at first blush, exceeds the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's safe limits. … Identifying who was exposed, and your exposure level, gets tricky and is our next important task."

> According to Stephenson, buckets of uranium specimens had been in a basement at park headquarters for decades and were moved to the museum building around 2000. One of the buckets was so full that its lid would not close.

> Stephenson said the containers were stored next to a taxidermy exhibit, where children on tours sometimes stopped for presentations, sitting next to uranium for 30 minutes or more. By his calculation, those children could have received radiation dosages in excess of federal safety standards within three seconds, and adults could have suffered dangerous exposure in less than a half-minute.

> Stephenson said his only concern is the safety of everyone who spent time in a danger zone, and he alerted them only after failing for eight months to get park officials to act.

> "I've never seen anything like this in my life," he said.

> Stephenson said the uranium threat was discovered in March 2018 by the teenage son of a park employee who happened to be a Geiger counter enthusiast, and brought a device to the museum collection room.

> Workers immediately moved the buckets of uranium to another location in the building. Park Service technicians dumped the uranium out of the buckets, and returned the buckets to the building.

> Stephenson said he filed a report with OSHA, which sent inspectors to the museum building in yellow protective suits. They traced radiation to the three buckets.

> "You could hear their meters going off," Stephenson said.

> Stephenson said he's heard nothing from superiors at the Park Service since he sent the warning letter.

> "They're in cover-up mode," he said. "I've been cut off from any kind of information."

>Va
This is "He goes". Imperative is Vai or Va'.
>mi compra
Comprami (otherwise it would be "He buys me")
>tre le bottiglie
Just "tre bottiglie", the original didn't use the article (and it would have been le tre bottiglie anyway)
>di l'acqua

The silent letter “i” can get a little messy.
It’s dialectal, so some places pronounce the “i”and some don’t.
The thing you also have to keep in mind is the stress pattern. Primary stress almost always falls on the penultimate syllable (3rd last). If an “i” is in the penultimate syllable, it would be pronounced. Also, the letter combo “-iw” is usually also pronounced.
So the first and last “i” in kimiwasin are silent
>kMIWasn
The i’s in oskinîkiskwew are all in unstressed positions, so they’re unprounced as well.

Nah, I had to look up a lot of stuff in order to complete it. It will take a while before I understand it fluently. But I'm getting there.

jesus fuck

Had a dream with a short Italian conversation in it last night

How long have you learned? And is pronunciation a struggle?

>Nah, I had to look up a lot of stuff in order to complete it.
But you still completed it by doing so and got a lot of things right, so you learned something. Ain't that good?

This is true. I try to write down the correct versions of sentences. Even if I don't completely understand why it's correct, it's good to study and keep them in mind.

Cool. I only ask because I would like to learn Swedish for fun, but I am not so sure about things like the the pitch-accent, silent letters, and sj/sk sounds. Seems difficult to me.

Godspeed

These Caribbean dialects are literally rapid fire Spanish, and the way in which they drop their 's' and 'd' such as with -ado = a'o, and las mujeres = la' mujere' throws me off. They should really classify Caribbean Spanish as a different language.

화이팅 lad~ After to two years what would you say your comprehension is at when reading and listening? Also how do you study? I'm a month in and I'm still in the stage where I can't really understand much.. so studying is a bit of a chore.. I just want to get to the point where I can just grind 10000 hours of korean dramas and get those sweet immersion gains ㅠㅠ

Call me brainlet but I don't like words like:
>sköta
>skjorta
etc. I see 'sk' and I just want to pronounce it like school or skate. For some reason, I still want to learn it though.
