If you don't see how Proof of Work based distribution is fairer and more appropriate for a fair currency and/or store of value than a token that some guy/team just sold in a mass ICO sale and continues to hold 25+% of then I have no way to really explain...

I think you're misunderstanding the point of 0xBTC. It not not explicitly "solve a problem" in the sense that Augur tries to solve the oracle problem or golem tries to solve the distributed rendering problem. It's simply a more appropriate currency and store of value within the Ethereum ecosystem than ETH.
