The only dialect in Italy that matches the English definition of dialect is Roman, the rest are languages that evolved independently, some like the Northern Italian dialects are more closely related to Occitan. In any case we have a bunch of officially recognized language minorities that are unequivocally not Italian dialects of any sort, like Albanian, Croatian, German, Franco-provenzal, Slovenian, Catalan and so on.

You can see there are 6/7 different language clusters (the different colours) that arent mutually intelligible, the dialects are the subdivisions within each language (those small "provinces")

It's mutually intelligible with regular spanish, therefore it's a dialect. Many linguists consider the Scandinavian languages to just be one language because of this, outside of icelandic and faroese. Just because you want to be quirky and cool with your meme dialects doesn't make them any more of a separate language
