LARPING still exists

that's what christendom used to be about. killing the old culture so no one remembers it, especially the midwives so the oral tradition will be lost and the people will be dependant on the church.

based druid gang

I don't think Roman writers were very reliable. Tacitus for example, cited as THE Roman expert on Germanic peoples never actually was in Germania.

What is very interesting is the archeologically verified practice of Island Celts to sacrifice their Kings. Testament to the immense political power the druids held and it makes you understand why the Romans marched all the way through England ignoring military targets to massacre them all.

Nah man druids were burning people alive for centuries before Christianity took hold. Which, from my understanding, is why in the non-Roman parts of Britain/Ireland it took off like wildfire. Where the Romans said "hey no lighting people on fire without killing them first" the pagan druids were doing it to anyone who asked too many questions. So, when Christianity was introduced everyone just said "fuck this gay burning man shit" and adopted Christ.

We don't really know anything about the druids, and the one extant source (Caesar) came as a warlord so he's not exactly impartial.

this is real btw

>Nah man druids were burning people alive for centuries before Christianity took hold.
says the christians, who actually started burning people

>you'll never be part of a turn-of-the-century pagan bohemian larper club and dick young virginia woolf

pretty sure burning people predates christianity

according to christians, who burnt the people who had other sources both people (oral traditions) and the libraries that existed

I also think that pagan societies were far more superstitious about witchcraft and paranoid about them being in their midst than christians ever were. Until nutjobs like Heinrich Kramer and Protestants they even denied witchcraft exists.

burnt who

midwives, that were the keepers of oral tradition and medicine

didn't burn any here
