I'm not afraid personally, being white and now middle class gets me rid of some shit, but growing up in a shithole neighborhood taught me that you can't trust cops around here. While some cops are really chill guys, others are just straight up assholes; they're know for being ridiculously agressive in inspections, many times slapping people or threatening them because they think they're lying. Every fucking month there is a scandal about cops that execute people without having any proofs the victim is even a criminal, and I can attest you, from personal experience, that it happens a lot more frequently than people get to know.
They're also really incompetent. Whenever a football match turns into a riot, the cops always make things worse by getting innocent people sprayed, gassed or, sometimes, shot. And by the way, if you ever get robbed or even death threatened in Brazil, going to the police station will be a huge waste of time.
And to finish it all, corruption has already fucked the Military Police and part of the Civil Police in most states. The good cops are completely powerless while everyone around them takes bribes or uses their position in as officers to get clean from shit they do
