I'm struggling to learn hiragana, it's been a few days and I still don't know about half the symbols and get them mixed up a lot. I know I have to learn katakana too apparantly and I'm dreading it. Will things be easier at all once I get over these initial hurdles?

that better be bait

look at the flag. now back to me. now at the flag once more. close up, freeze frame
yep. its entirely possible.mp3

Things are harder than I thought they would be, I'm hoping maybe once I get the basics down learning the rest will flow better. Because this is a lot more work than I thought it was going to be starting out.

took me 2 weeks to learn them all. i learned them by watching a nuke video a day

On the off chance you're not baiting, you should really reevaluate your capability to study this. If you're struggling with the 50 hiragana this badly, it's best not to think of the 2,136 joyo kanji, each with multiple readings, that you'll need to learn to be able to read anything in the language.

>2,136 joyo kanji, each with multiple readings, that you'll need to learn to be able to read anything in the language.
Kanji are irrelevant compared to words. Tally lists of kanji are useless, authors will use whatever, names will be whatever.

Fills me with a bit of hope, I haven't thought of watching videos I've just been doing the online tests.
Well shit I guess that means probably not. I really want to do this so I'll keep going but thanks for the info, I hoped maybe I could apply the hiragana knowledge to the kanji to make it easier. Maybe I can find a way to connect them.

Am I having a stroke? Why is a travel agent saying this and not a tour guide? And why is she talking to a student?

Can someone in here redpill me on AJATT? Is it a superior method for learning?

Yeah but it costs like $4000. Even if its really good, its not worth that much

just write the ones down you're having trouble with over the next few days, there's no need to panic,
on the other hand, hiragana unironically are the easiest part about learning japanese, so prepare you anus and read the guide in the OP if you haven't already

Kill yourself

recognizable enough other than "方", it sounds like rather "風(かぜ)" or "数(かず)" than "ほう".

>Mixing kansai and standard

I mean that's pretty terrible but not the worst ive heard by far.

>Mixing kansai and standard
That's what non-kansaians are casually doing, don't be so picky!!
Would you like to post your own voice then?

Attached: josiraku.jpg (512x288, 36K)

It sounds like really typical speech spoken by Western language speakers who can speak some Japanese (other than "方"), quite acceptable desu hai.

whens the last time you said はいさい or 毎度

You probably can get used to the way he talks, I'm catching most of what he says

It needs some effort indeed..
If it's not him, we'd frown at it.
>はいさい
I haven't uttered it ever, as I am not an Okinawan.
>毎度
as a greeting: last year? I use it merely several times in a year.
as a normal word: almost every day.

And just in case, "方" is pronounced "ほう" in this case, not "かた".

"やさしかった", it's an i-adjective!

I initially thought you didn't even speak to them at all though and now you're just creeping after the fact. I'm surprised.

Attached: 1550703841455.jpg (890x890, 176K)

It's not scary as long as you aren't afraid to make silly mistakes like that. In the end they pretty much 100% understood what I tried to say.

Attached: autistic chair.png (599x729, 491K)

I mean you can probably figure saying なりたい instead of 乗りたい is just the gaijin mixing up sounds while talking.

high

Yeah, exactly. Stuff like that or ピアノをする instead of ピアノを弾く are embarrassing, and as the day went on I made less of those mistakes, but they were nice enough to correct me when necessary, and I think that it's better to practice speaking like that instead of planning out every single sentence and ending up sounding like a robot.

I still don't understand

目が痛い

So at base it's just ならば君たちは在来線程度になれると言うのか but with なら and でも added on top, what do they do?
I understand simple なら sentences but I have no clue how it fits in here, とでも definition is not helping, is it really just him doubting that we can become 在来線?

>So would you say you could become one(a train) if it was on a regular train level?
Is this it?

Attached: 1522007881237.png (1920x1080, 1.19M)

Or is he asking what if we became 在来線 instead? What's 程度 even doing here

Attached: haifuri72b.png (1280x720, 1.43M)

My problem was not with the grammar point, but even if I know this I still have no idea what this is supposed to say. Seems that's true for everyone.

Biggest DJT mystery right here.

if you were able to become a normal train (as opposed to a bullet train) would you still say that you would want to become one

>(それ)ならば 君たち は 在来線 程度 に なら(ば) 成 れる と でも 言う の か
Then, would you anons say something like that you could be at least old trains?
なら implies condition, while the ならば at the beginning is working as conjunctive.
>If it were 在来線, do you mean you could become one?
程度 here means "at least XXX" or "a kind of XXX", like
>あのチンピラ程度なら5秒で片付けられる
でも is a parcitle, means "something like..", roughly saying. と is a particle as well, citing "在来線程度にならなれる" as the object of "言う" .

your comments reminded me that I scored only 33 out of 100 on an English exam when I was at junior high school.

Attached: 1411092782924.jpg (1280x720, 71K)

Thank you for the long explanation.

The thing I got from it initially is that you were making a joke about 在来線 compared to 新幹線 but I misread なれる for 慣れる instead of 成れる and had no idea what 程度 and the とでも was doing.

I always think this word is extraordinarily rude, equally to calling a person a kike or a nigger. Not sure why people use it so casually in this thread sometimes.

Japanman doesn't need expletives or 蔑称. I get caught in their pace and politeness level so all they have to do is be slightly rude and it feels like a slap.
