Islam isn't the future. the future is always to on average remove rules of social engagement and behaviour.
Occasionally conservatives win some ground for a while and might add a few new rules, but always over time technology is increasing which removes the need for rules of behaviour and strictness in society. imagine you have a graph of y = x and then you add a sin wave to that like y = x + 2sin(x)
as time (x) increases sometimes the value of y will decrease due to the sin wave, just like sometimes conservative movements will win back a bit of ground temporarily and introduce some new rules in society, but overall the trend is for there to be fewer and fewer rules.
Islamic society isn't able to escape the inevitabilty of this.

Isn't it sexist and unfair that according to muslim scripture and traditional islamic law a woman's testimony for financial agreements and transactions is worth half what a man's is? Or that a man can get divorced unilaterally without the wive's or anyone else's permission whereas the wife needs either the husband's permission to get divorced or the permission of a sharia judge or council?
