Woke up this morning being able to pronounce 'e' in Mandarin consistently despite having trouble all day yesterday. Amazing how it just adjusts overnight.

Yes, it does. Have this as a consolation prize:

Crazy how memorization works

>What Old Norse Sounded Like

erry tiem

Crawford's vids are good for grammar, not phonology.

He does in the second half. He's just talking about _how_ they arrived at it, which is relevant.

> not phonology.
I'm not sure how exact anyone can nail phonology of an ancient language, but at any rate it is understandable since he had to "learn" it. At least he speaks slowly and clearly and doesn't ramble too much.

Sollte ich Japanisch lernen?

completely misinterpreted my post. if you ever reply to me again, i'll be very cross. same goes for my son

Post your duolingo progress here and how much it has helped you

if you want people to think you're a weeb, go for it

>He does in the second half.
No, I mean the pronunciation isn't all that correct, which ">he doesn't do what the title says" was a cheeky way of saying. :^)

I haven't touched my Duolingo in over a year. Theres no point if I'm far ahead of the introductory lessons.

One textbook I found uses the Cois Fharraige (I think I spelled it right) dialect

Feel free to post a video of you reading it the "correct" way :^)

Why learn Salmonese when you could learn Sardinian?

why learn Sardinian when you could learn Sicilian?

Sicily is not a fish.

Biblical hebrew, classical chinese, or old tibetan ?

Yeah, nah. (^:

Gravlaxish > Herringese > Salmonese > Pikish > Carpese > Bassonian > Sardinian

How do you say "I have many Viking friends" in Swedish

Det er lett å lage gravlaks. Forst, trenger du en laks.

It's easy to make cured salmon. First, you need a salmon.

why can't I find youtube videos on how to make glasmastarsill

user... are you okay?

Attached: PeepoSip.png (112x112, 17K)

classical chinese
all shit languages by the way

Tibetan is pretty cool. iirc the modern written form is basically old tibetan with an extremely modified pronunciation based on modern dialects.

does swedish have V2 word order like german? just noticing the sentence "Forst, trenger du en laks" and "need" is second. i assume it's the same in the sentence "Det er lett å lage gravlaks" as "å" is an auxiliary

That's not Swedish, m8. But yes, Swedish is a V2 language.

oh it's norwegian? nevermind then but that's nice to know

Challenge time:

Medium

>I'm going to take a break.

>The symbol was adopted by early Christians as a secret symbol.

Wait, are you that second Aussie learning Swedish?

einfach
ich liebe Fisch
ich esse jeden Tag Fisch
ich bin gemüse
Es gibt keine Schnee am April

please correct me germans and german learners, i know its bad

Nein, ich lerne Deutsch und Sprachwissenschaft

i just like observing the different types of syntax and morphology in various languages hence the linguistics study

Schnee is masculine (keinen Schnee)
im April

>ich bin gemüse
lel

>i am vegetables
lmao
Ich bin Gesund

so Schnee here is accusative and april is dative correct? if i use the construction "Es gibt" does the noun following the phrase always retain an accusative form because technically the "es" in "es gibt" is nominative?

>Nein, ich lerne Deutsch und Sprachwissenschaft
Ah, alri. There was an Aussie doing a challenge out of nowhere the other day namely, hence my question.

>i just like observing the different types of syntax and morphology in various languages hence the linguistics study
Based man of culture. I like philology myself.

Attached: straya.png (128x118, 15K)

tell me how to find video tutorial for glasmastarsill!!!!

Yes. It's always 'es gibt' [+akk]

why do you think swedish is such a popular language for people to learn anyway? i assume tourism purposes.
we can learn a lot from our distinct neighbours just by studying their language
philology is cool, tolkien has inspired to possibly go that route in my studies. highly interested in the early forms of english and german

based. Prost, Fotze

Medium

>I'm going to take a break.
Jag tar en paus.

>why do you think swedish is such a popular language for people to learn anyway?
It isn't really. Norwegian mogs it hard. It just has a bigger following in /lang/ specifically atm.

Also it's a category 1 language so most people probably just do it to add another feather to their cap.

>highly interested in the early forms of english and german
There's a cool lad around here who is quite knowledgeable in Old English 2bh. Serbian flag, OP of previous thread. You could hit him up if you wanna learn something about that.

I can't find any on the ole tube.

Attached: MegaLul.png (112x112, 24K)

But how are people supposed to know how to put fish into glass jars???

>Jag äter fisk daglig
Jag äter fisk dagligen(or more appropriately; varje dag)
>Det finns ingen snö i April
Det snöar inte i April

>Jag äter fisk daglig.
dagligen*

>Det finns ingen snö i April.
april*, not capitalized

>Jag tar en paus.
Jag ska ta en paus.
What you wrote there means "I'm taking a break" as if it's either already going on or something you're just about to do as you say it.

The rest was gucci. Good job 2bh.

Attached: PeepoTeacher.png (120x120, 15K)

>(or more appropriately; varje dag)
This too, but it's good to muse creative thinking in these challenges.

>Det snöar inte i April
That is not a proper translation though, and months aren't capitalized in Swedish. :^)

Attached: PeepoCoffee.png (112x112, 15K)

Tack så mycket

it's not a correct statement either because there's always snow where I live in april

There are recipes already. People use those.

Isn't that so in most of this country?
April is the memeiest spring month.

anyone use language learning with netflix? its a pretty sick addon desu. tried it for 15 mins today.

>einfach
Ich liebe Fisch.
Ich esse jeden Tag Fisch.
Ich bin gesund.
In Apri gibt es keinen Schnee.

also for "im April", why does this even need an article? is it just there to show it's in dative? when do i need to use an article in german? it seems like they use an excessive amount

april is the best autumn month you mean

based down under seasons

Do Scandinavians use refrigerators or can they simply put their foods in a box outside

see, Sweden, this is why you need sleep
never gonna make it otherwise

>Är min observation rätt eller hur?
Tycker jag inte.

>Om jag har fel på vilket sätt varierar de från infödda Svenskor?
Det är ju svårt att säga. Man hör att de inte är svenskar helt enkelt.

Svenskor betyder dessutom kvinnliga svenskar. :^)

biblical hebrew

>Man hör att de inte är svenskar helt enkelt
Kanske är det bara deras betoning som är lite konstig eller är det också uttalen?

>Svenskor betyder dessutom kvinnliga svenskar.
Dur har rätt. Det är flertalet av "svenska", inte sant?

Leax in Old English, /læɑks/

please, anyone with knowledge of german help me with this question.

sounds like it just is that way because it is, germans like adding articles to nouns

like they don't say "life is good" they say "the life is good/das Leben ist gut"

I want to learn every Germanic language but German (and Danish except they're not even real)

Auzzies really be living in the future

Bump

Dutch is a good starting point then. What do you mean by all btw? Just big ones or all the minority languages too?

i think nästan works for "pretty much"

best langs to learn as a black man?

I'm thinking mandarin.

Just big ones. I like Dutch, Swedish, and Norwegian more the German. Not sure if I can really do Germanic languages though since I'm so used to speaking soft (I speak slavic langauges mostly and am learning Spanish)

>why do you think swedish is such a popular language for people to learn anyway? i

Because brainlets on lang googled "whats the easiest lang to learn" and viola they see soydish,. instead they should be learning german since learning this makes u learn other germanic langs extremely fast, after mastering german i learned conversational dutch in 4 months and have german friends who learned conversational swedish in 3 months

The only challenging thing about german pronunciation is the gutteral noises , even without these you can still be understood

Not memeing but probably french
