Why are all the refugees in Sweden learning swedish, but refugees in Germany aren't learning German, France learning French, Netherlands learning Dutch, etc

because the government helps them learn it here, so they don't bother with Duolingo, I imagine it's the same in Germany

Why is that funny? A third of the world speaks Spanish and when you run out of local languages to learn, you're left with a bunch of people who like languages and go for more useful ones. It's another thing when the second most sought for language is English because you're full of Mexicans. Which, the Balkans, are not.

false. i dont know anyone who study or speak spanish, big city schools might offer it as a third choice after english and german.

I wish I could laugh about Sweden, but most of the guys and gals coming to Germany don't really work their asses off learning German. I get that it's difficult to learn, but strolling around in the next city (in Western Germany) will give you the impression that almost no one speaks German, especially when they're among themselves. Apparently the "New Swedes" at least try. There are some people that learn German diligently too, of course.

That being said, it's still sad to see that there are apparently so many people that need to learn Swedish.

Yes, many Arabs/Turks. The Turks have been coming since the 60s, but there's been an impressive influx of immigrants from the Middle East and North Africa during the last few years. Eastern Europeans and people from the Balkans are usually pretty skilled workers and they integrate well, that included learning German. During the last 3 years I've also seen a massive influx of subsaharan africans, they're the worst in terms of speaking German in public btw. That alone doesn't mean they are shit though. I just think that a country needs to have a population whose people can thorougly communicate in a single language. Offering driver license tests in literally every language for example doesn't help in that case, why learn the language of your host country if they make your monolingual life so easy for you? We have thousands of Turks living in Germany in the 3rd of 4th generation already who don't speak German apart from "Ich nicht verstehen", especially women that solemly stay in their homes. Many of those stick to themselves and only speak Turkish.

Most people that come here are either very skilled and valuable workers or scum, with almost nothing in between, at least in my opinion.
