What did they mean by this?

You can walk across when the tide goes out, otherwise you have to go by boat

This used to be surrounded by forest once upon a time

Attached: Photolibrary-mount_3379833b.jpg (620x387, 75K)

It's not a mansion.
It's used as an events center nowadays from what I know.

>Castles without at least two vertical drops on each side are keeps
wrong

Carreg cennen has also has a natural cave system under it. Loads of all ancient graffiti in it too but you need to have a good torch to see them all since it is pitch black

one of the tallest dungeon in europe

Fact of the matter is most useful castles get smashed to pieces since they are not worth falling into enemy hands

Hardturm, Zürich, Switzerland
13th century tower guarding the ford over the river Limmat, 17th century baroque living quarters on top, spacious 20th century concrete machine gun bunker in the basement.

Attached: Hardturm.jpg (2877x1953, 3.18M)

fact is castles are nobility residencies and centers of administration which is why they can't all be located on remote mountain tops, idiot

Technicaly, Kremlin is closest thing we have for casltle.
Historically, in Kievan Rus feudals rarely lived in one place for long, because of succession laws, so there was no point to build fortifications.

Riverside view, can,t really see the bunker, but it was for 1 heavy mg plus one light mg and now is apparently a storage room for the folks that live in the tower.

Interesting, thanks Russianon

There were quite a few city fortifications, though, there are still more than 10 kremlins, and a few castles standing, not counting the monasteries. Many of them were built after the Mongol invasion, though.

Come at me, castlelet!

Attached: Bottmigen.jpg (1575x1046, 1.15M)

hold up

Are these ancient, or are they being built to protect Swedes against Somalian immigrants?

That's Kalmar Castle, built in the 1100's.

"castle" Nice windows
Even this shit is closer to a castle

Attached: fort McHenry.jpg (2048x1367, 1.12M)

it looks like the teletubby aristocracy have purchased a number of thoroughbreds from the saudis, and built a grand set of stables in teletubbyland to house them

??????????

It's so ugly, but it has a lot of history. It was built in the 1500s and was the first building in the world to have more than 3 floors without pillars. It used to look very different, but there was a big fire that damaged the castle during the 1700s, which led to a rebuilding in a classical french style for some reason. The rebuilding wasn't completed, which is why it looks retarded on one side. Old pic coming after.
