How many languages does the average Estonian know, and what are they? Also tell me the languages you know even if you ain't from Estonia.

Depend the generation, boomers are better at russian usually
I guess they had to learn Russian back then. Everyone thought they were going to annex Europe.
Boomers talk to me freely, zoomers pretend they don't understand
Yes their boomers usually know Russian since it was a mandatory subject during the Soviet times. The younger generation speaks adequate English with their adorable accent. Lots of Estonians come to work in Finland and they pick up Finnish pretty effortlessly, though I've noticed that the youngsters might still prefer using English instead of Finnish. In those cases I often insist on speaking to them in a kind of Finnish-Estonian pidgin because fuck English
That's because zoomers are autistic. You keep doing you Ivan.
Post-soviet generation is returning to their Mongolian throat singing.
Turkish, English, German, a little bit of Albanian and currently learning japanese because im deffinently not a weeb
>fuck english
based. I hear too much of it here anyway.
It doesn't matter what they speak, it gets muffled anyway

By the BRC
God I wish that were me
Don't worry friend, it will be all of us.
more often than not, no, that will never be us. you know, I wish people saw the US differently than it's stereotyped to be. then again, I'm guilty of stereotyping countries as well.
It is inevitable that the entire world will become part of Russia. God wants it that way.
hey, who am I to disagree with God's plan?
Exactly.
>I know English!

Don't forget that some Estonian boomers know of some Finnish because of Finnish television during USSR era. Northern Estonian boomers mainly. But young folks have had your average European television programming after the early 90's.
When I visited Saaremaa (the larger island in left) I spoke english without a thought. One restaurant had a menu in Finnish outside for some reason, but they couldn't speak it then.
Aren't Estonian and Finnish mutually intelligible to some degree?
5
>Lithuanian
>English
>German
>Russian
>Latin (basics, needed for my law degree)
Should be about as intelligible as Ukrainian and Polish
Grammar is alike. Some words are similar, some very misleading and much is just up to guessing. I would understand about 25% of things
So that's enough to understand each other in a basic conversation
I always speak with them in Russian, even though I knew Estonian, because it still mandatory subjects even in Russian schools.
Estonians are subhumans that must be genocided

I speak English and German, as well as pretty rudimentary French. Currently trying to learn Estonian for research purposes.

If I'm ever not sure of what end to use then I use a question. But mostly it comes naturally.
