>The 1,070-foot ship had departed Cape Liberty Cruise Port across the Hudson from New York City about 3 p.m., bound for Port Canaveral, Fla., and eventually the Bahamas three days later. The weather wasn’t superb but also not overly vicious — severe storms in the Deep South and heavy snow in New England, with the Escape set to travel through a more tranquil shield of rain in between. Maximum winds of 30 mph to 40 mph and occasional downpours looked to be in the offing.
>Nothing could have prepared the mostly American passengers for the 90mph freak winds that were about to hit.
>Shortly before midnight, the ship suddenly lurched to port. An onboard video shows passengers — who moments earlier had been celebrating the first night of their cruise — duck and cover as tables, chairs and cutlery became projectiles.
>“Several injuries were reported,” Norwegian wrote on Twitter. “Those guests and crew received immediate medical attention or are being treated by the ship’s medical staff."
>AAAAH HELP ME THE WIND IS TOO STRONG why do americans do this?

Shut the fuck up. Your shit was a fucking junk, thats it.

>BE AMERICAN >house and entire town destroyed in 20 mph winds >rebuild your life and move on >eventually have enough money to take unpaid leave for 10 days on a cruise, Mr Steinstein cancels your health insurance for those ten days "since you're not working" >only fair, we don't want to become communists >cruise ship leaves new york and suddenly a deadly gust of 40mph wind rocks the ship >hit the deck and protect yourself, this ship is about to be blown to pieces! >the ship gently rocks back and forth >your entire world has been shattered, this simple boat can withstand wind, the most powerful weapon of mother nature that you were told no structure could ever resist >sit on the floor blubbering trying to understand how a non-american country like norway has conquered mother nature with their engineering >maybe, america isn't the greatest country in the world?
If it took any boomers with it, then good riddance.

>The roof would be destroyed
Yes that's how houses come apart. The roof comes off and then the interior becomes a blender of shit regardless of what the exterior walls are made of. That's why block and wood frame houses have almost the same wind ratings.
Leo Adams
As mentioned, collateral damage would be more severe with a break house, also it’s a lot more expensive to replace damages brick portions of a house than it is to replace wooden portions. I believe there’s also some minor things about the wood “bending”. A concrete house would fair way better than a brick or wood house though, although that would be both expensive and ugly

No shit like this, food poisoning, and hordes of poor trash make it seem terrible. Maybe if you went on one of the expensive ones on smaller luxury ships.
Does anyone have a link to the semester at sea video where everything is sliding across the ship?
Cooper Wilson
Yeah, didn't you ever see the Pokemon episode where they go on the cruise ship and...

>Build and manage a shitty boat >Can't handle North Atlantic winter weather.
Regardless you have a total teardown and rebuild due ti all of the structural damage and the fact that all of the interior is now fully exposed to the elements.

It's just the Bermuda Triangle giving americans a good ol shake. They should be happy they didn't get swallowed.
Norwegian cruiseline was bought by Americans. The ship, Norwegian Escape, was built by Germans.
Tfw we had nothing to do with this, but our reputation takes a hit.
