>Marine historian Olav Bergersen believes that as many as 20/28 officers in the Royal Dano-Norwegian Army were Norwegian by 1685. >During the battle of Koge Bugt in 1677 there were 60 naval officers from Norway (~27%), 41 from Denmark (~16%) and 15 from other nations, or unkown. >A disproportionate amount of men serving in the Navy, of all ranks, were Norwegian. >Admiral Peter Wessel Tordenskjold, perhaps the greatest naval hero in the Royal Dano-Norwegian navy of all time, was Norwegian, having been born in Trondheim. Norway is based, Denmark is based, but Denmark-Norway is a billion times better. We belong together, and should never have been forced apart.
we are the real niggers. danecucks, swedecucks nerds.
For centuries they were struggling, working hard inventing great architecture, literature and building empire. We were just fucking around fishing abit, walking in the mountains, skiing whatever.
And now, when the oil is at our borders, they have the nerve to come to us for the banana peeling jobs?
The copenhagen raid was in 1807, well over a century after the period I talked about. You utter dolt. The british navy was extremely powerful in the 1800s. Why are you so buttmad? Are you not happy for the many contributions we made to your navy? Almost, but remember that we built an empire too, before the kalmar union. Look up Norgesveldet, mid 1200s. No they don't. At best they need to stop condescending us at times.
Logan Morris
Jesus fucking christ, I wanted this to be a nice thread. Immediately it's filled with autism. I guess being courteous is too much to ask on the channel.
Ian Perez
Real nigger empire. We achieved great things before sweden or denmark even existed. We reached the peak and then realizing it was good to do, but it's a past stage, sat back.
Luis Smith
do people in norway actually learn about the union?
Colton Adams
Of course we do. It's a major part of our history. Yeah, whatever, I know you're having fun. I just wanted to remind you of Norgesveldet.
Christopher Scott
autist
Luis Mitchell
yikes
big yikes
Colton Reyes
I feel bad for you fren Don't specify you want a nice thread, it will instantly get trashed upon. I have two very ignorant questions; Why is there so many different dialects in Norway and why does Norway use two writing styles (Bokmål & Nynorsk)?
>Why is there so many different dialects in Norway Because of our geography. People have traditionally lived very secluded in valleys that have been hard to reach simply because of our geography, so people have developed many more dialects than other, flatter, nations. >why does Norway use two writing styles (Bokmål & Nynorsk)? Bokmål is a derivative of Danish, and nynorsk is a language constructed off of western and central norwegian dialects. They are both around the same age, ~160 years old. Nynorsk arose because Ivar Aasen (the guy who went around collecting dialects) wanted a norwegian language that isn't just a danish derivative.
Between ~1500 and 1850 we used Danish, and before that, middle Norwegian. Anything before that again would have been old west norse.
Jordan Phillips
Now, take the 1850 year with a grain of salt, because the earliest versions of bokmål still looked practically indistinguishable from Danish. It evolved between 1850 and 1940, but nynorsk has remained largely the same.
Brody Diaz
Imagine how boring it would be to be Scandinavian. Bunch of materialist feminine snowniggers. No history
Jayden Russell
there was a huge debate way back after the union with denmark when it came down to what language would be the official one. some people just wanted to use regular danish and some wanted to norwegianize danish (bokmål) one guy decided to create a "purer" sort of norwegian by using western norwegian dialects, which were allegedly closer to old norse. this led to the creation of nynorsk and hognorsk ("high norwegian", a more extreme and less used kind of nynorsk). some people wanted to blend all these written languages together, but that wasnt really popular and now were stuck with 2 written languages
Lincoln Clark
Why is it always an american?
Ayden Ramirez
literally america only regular niggers instead
Isaac Roberts
user here is absolutely right - i somehow forgot samnorsk in my post . The samnorsk project was an attempt at "fusing" bokmål and nynorsk, but the idea completely flopped after WW2.
Isaiah Morris
>högnorsk Was this actually used at all? I literally never heard about it until I started frequenting Jow Forums.
Kayden Ross
keep you history keep your damn art us norwegians real nords don't need none of that bullshit
Xavier Mitchell
hognorsk was more or less the original nynorsk
Landon Gray
Must have been a shit army, lmao
Dominic Jones
Define "alive"
Adam Foster
You're probably the guy I argued with who kept claiming that "the norwegian soul is devoid of talent" the other day. Fuck you, cunt. Fuck you aswell.
Josiah Campbell
Tordenskjold prevented a Swedish invasion of Norway by Karl XII, so I'd say he was successful. Certainly better than the Swedish navy at any point during history. Your strength was on land, not on the sea.
Brandon Stewart
destroyed most of the swedish navy, ensuring that charles xii ran like a faggot back home
Carter Cooper
don't you evah be tryin to appease these nerds dorks and virigns. us norwegians have it good just as it is. we ain't no swedes or danes or shit.
Grayson Nelson
Brenn i helvete.
